A search for long-lived heavy neutrinos (N) in the decays of B mesons produced in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 41.6 fb(-1) collected in 2018 by the CMS experiment at th ...

An amplitude analysis of the B-0 -> K*(0) mu(+)mu(-) decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to shor ...

We study tetraquarks in large N QCD with heavy quarks, in the domain where non-relativistic quantum mechanics offers an adequate approximation. Within the regime of validity of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, we systematically study and explicitly cons ...

The production of prompt D0 mesons in proton-lead collisions in both the forward and backward rapidity regions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN=8.16 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt D0 me ...

The ratio of the B-s(0) and B-0 fragmentation fractions, f(s)/f(d), in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, is obtained as a function of B-meson transverse momentum and collision center-of-mass energy from the combined analysis of different B-decay channel ...

The first measurements of diboson production cross sections in proton-proton interactions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV are reported. They are based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 ...

A search for the doubly heavy Xi bc0 baryon using its decay to the D(0)pK(-) final state is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integr ...

This thesis explores the application of semiclassical methods in the study of states with large quantum numbers for theories invariant under internal symmetries. In the first part of the thesis, we study zero-temperature superfluids. These provide a gener ...

We study quantum effects in Higgs inflation in the Palatini formulation of gravity, in which the metric and connection are treated as independent variables. We exploit the fact that the cutoff, above which perturbation theory breaks down, is higher than th ...

The branching fraction and direct CP asymmetry of the decay B +. J/.. + are measured using protonproton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre- of- mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 3 fb - 1. ...

We investigate polariton-polariton interactions in a semiconductor microcavity through two-dimensional Fourier transform (2DFT) spectroscopy. We observe, in addition to the lower-lower and the upper-upper polariton self-interactions, a lower-upper cross in ...

The kinematic dependences of the relative production rates, f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d), of Lambda(0)(b) baryons and B-0 mesons are measured using Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) and (B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-) decays. The measurements use proton-proton collisio ...

We search for the charmless B-o decay with final state particles p (Lambda) over bar pi(-)gamma using the full data sample that contains 772 x 10(6)B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-e ...

We have searched for the lepton-flavor-violating decays τ- decays into ℓ-KS 0 and ℓ-KS 0KS 0 (ℓ=e or μ), using a data sample of 671 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No evidence for a signal was found in an ...

We investigate the behavior of probabilities of large deviations above the mean versus large deviations below the mean for random additive functionals in a variety of random media models. Among others, we treat the large deviations of the point-to-hyperpla ...
