This communication introduces a modified substrate integrated waveguide (SIW), the gap SIW, and deduces an approximate closed-form expression for calculating its effective width, taking into account the fringing and coupling fields around the gap. As an im ...

A novel substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) horn antenna with partially detached broad walls is designed and analyzed. The conventional SIW horn antenna suffers from narrow-operating bandwidth, which mainly results from the mismatch at the horn aperture b ...

A slot array placed on the face of a cavity realized in substrate-integrated waveguide technology is presented. Guidelines to design similar antennas are provided. The design has been done with the help of commercial software. The result is a low-cost, dir ...

Optical sensors represent a large growing market which is nowadays focusing onto advancement in mobile technology. Innovations in the field of optical sensors are mostly driven by the technological advancements in the domain of micro & nanofabrication. One ...

Upgrades of the CERN particle accelerators complex are planned to increase the potential of physics discovery in the LHC. In this respect, the beam coupling impedances of the SPS and LHC are expected to be among the limitations to the intensity upgrade sch ...

Folded substrate integrated waveguide (FSIW) has been proposed for further size reduction, while keeping the advantages of traditional SIW. FSIW-based horn antennas are very promising in millimeter wave applications. To improve the bandwidth and efficiency ...

The aim of this paper is to determine the dielectric characteristics of tropical wood species at microwaves frequency in order to use them as planar antenna substrate. The measurements have been done on dried wood in the frequency range 8.2-12.4 GHz The su ...

Integral Equation (IE) formulation solved by Method of Moments may be used efficiently to address the problem of quasi-waveguide structures, i.e. structures consisting of a main waveguide with a constant cross section that may bear an arbitrary number of p ...

The Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology is a very promising candidate to provide widespread commercial solutions for modern communications systems. Its main advantage is the possibility to integrate passive/active components and antennas in the ...

This work presents a new rigorous investigation of corona effects in microstrip components. To carry out the investigation, a new software tool has been developed. The new tool first calculates the electromagnetic fields in complex microstrip structures us ...

The accurate consideration of propagation losses in arbitrarily shaped waveguide-based structures is studied in this paper. For such a purpose, a software tool based on the perturbation of the boundary conditions on the waveguide metallic walls and on the ...

A complete dual polarized substrate integrated structure is presented. It comprises planar excitation schemes for both orthogonal TE10 and TE01 modes along with an orthomode transducer (OMT) to combine/split them. The whole structure is compact (only 2 lay ...

This paper reports a study of the feeding structure influence on impedance matching and system fidelity factor of two loaded UWB antennas when placed near a human arm. To this aim, two identical dielectric loaded versions of the same UWB antenna designs wi ...
