In this paper we introduce an open source and reproducible microphone array hardware design and an anechoic dataset recorded with this array. The Pyramic array has 48 microphones spread onto six identical modules connected to an FPGA-ARM combo. The arrange ...

Industry is increasingly turning to reconfigurable architectures like FPGAs and CGRAs for improved performance and energy efficiency. Unfortunately, adoption of these architectures has been limited by their programming models. HDLs lack abstractions for pr ...

In the past five years, industry has overwhelmingly turned to open source as a primary means to build products and services atop of, with around 80% of surveyed companies acknowledging that they run on open source. 66% of companies say they would first c ...

Biomedical signal processing has become a very active domain of research nowadays. With the advent of portable monitoring devices, from accelerometer-enabled bracelets and smart-phones to more advanced vital sign tracking body area networks, this field has ...

In our demo, we present two hardware platforms for prototyping audio array signal processing. Pyramic is a 48-channel microphone array fitted on an FPGA and Compact Six is a portable microphone array with six microphones, closer to the technical constraint ...

Recent technological advancements in hardware systems have made higher quality cameras. State of the art panoramic systems use them to produce videos with a resolution of 9000 x 2400 pixels at a rate of 30 frames per second (fps).(1) Many modern applicatio ...

In most robotic and biomedical applications, the interest for real-time embedded systems with tactile ability has been growing. For example in prosthetics, a dedicated portable system is needed for developing wearable devices. The main challenges for such ...

Recent sampling results enable the reconstruction of signals composed of streams of fixed-shaped pulses. These results have found applications in topics as varied as channel estimation, biomedical imaging and radio astronomy. However, in many real signals, ...

Centralized and multi-level implementations of the Panoptic omnidirectional multiaperture visual system were previously presented by the authors, relying on transmission of all camera outputs to a single central processing node for omnidirectional image an ...

Mobile robots are valuable tools for education because of both the enthusiasm they raise and the multidisciplinary nature of robotics technology. Mobile robots give access to a wide range of fields, such as complex mechanics, sensors, wireless transmission ...

The computational complexity of disparity estimation algorithms and the need of large size and bandwidth for the external and internal memory make the real-time processing of disparity estimation challenging, especially for High Resolution (HR) images. Thi ...

This work presents an area and power efficient encoding system for wireless implantable devices capable of monitoring the electrical activity of the brain. Such devices are becoming an important tool for understanding, real-time monitoring, and potentially ...

We address delay faults: faults that cause a software component to take more time for completing an action than a given deadline. Such faults are particularly of interest in real- time mission-critical control applications that use general-purpose computin ...

Many classes of applications require Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees from the system interconnect. In Networks-on-Chip (NoC) QoS guarantees usually translate into bandwidth and latency constraints for the traffic flows and require hardware support in t ...

Optical flow calculation algorithms are hard to implement on hardware level in real-time due to their complexity and high computational load. In this work, we present a novel hierarchical block matching based optical flow algorithm. The algorithm estimates ...

The development of new antimalarial compounds remains a pivotal part of the strategy for malaria elimination. Recent large-scale phenotypic screens have provided a wealth of potential starting points for hit-to-lead campaigns. One such public set is explor ...

Today, the evolution of software solutions for parallel processing is strong, as a consequence of the mainstream introduction of chip-level multiprocessors. These types of parallel processors, which include general-purpose multi-cores and graphical process ...
