The energy transition towards a carbon-neutral and sustainable economy is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century to combat global warming and pollution. The decarbonization process is affecting every sector of the economy (electricity, transpor ...

Despite governing heat management in any realistic device, the microscopic mechanisms of heat transport in all-solid-state electrolytes are poorly known: existing calculations, all based on simplistic semi-empirical models, are unreliable for superionic co ...

Wadsley-Roth phase titanium niobium oxides have received considerable interest as anodes for lithium ion batteries. However, the volume expansion and sluggish ion/electron transport kinetics retard its application in grid scale. Here, fast and durable lith ...

Durable and efficient anion exchange polyelectrolytes (AEPs) are crucial for the long-term operation of cost-effective anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) and water electrolyzers (AEMWEs). Here, we present a new class of ?-amine-piperidinium-functi ...

The novelty of this study is to suggest a novel design for electric vehicle charging stations using fuel cell technology. The proposed system benefits from the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) to utilize the exhaust energy of the Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) st ...

Electroactive polymers show promising characteristic such as lightness, compactness, flexibility and large displacements making them a candidate for application in cardiac assist devices. This revives the need for quasi- square wave voltage supply switchin ...

The sustainable development of rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (RZIBs) is severely limited by the uncontrolled zinc dendritic growth and side reactions on the anode. Herein, a lignocellulose nanofiber (LCNF) separator from waste palm with dual-func ...

The dendrite growth on the surface of zinc anodes and formation of inactive by-products of Zn4(OH)6SO4.xH2O (ZHS), mainly attributed to the "tip effect" of an uneven surface and water corrosion of zinc anode, have seriously shrunk the anode life and hinder ...

Electric vehicles (EVs) have gained widespread attention in recent years as the dominant strategy for curbing CO2 emissions through transport electrification. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are currently the most suitable and almost exclusively employed ener ...

We highlight fast Li-ion diffusion in hypothetical tetragonal Li10GeP2O12 (LGPO), as a counterpart to the well-known phases of orthorhombic (LISICON) LGPO, thio-LISICON, and tetragonal Li10GeP2S12 (LGPS). We use extended Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics i ...

Electrochemical batteries are ubiquitous devices in our society. When employed in mission-critical applications, the ability to precisely predict their end-of-discharge under highly variable operating conditions is of paramount importance in order to suppo ...

A large body of work shows that machine learning (ML) models can leak sensitive or confidential information about their training data. Recently, leakage due to distribution inference (or property inference) attacks is gaining attention. In this attack, the ...

Electrochromic windows allow for an improved management of solar heat gains in buildings and enhanced visual comfort of building users. All-solid-state electrochromic devices can be especially durable. During their fabrication lithium has to be inserted, p ...

We present a loosely coupled scheme for the numerical simulation of the cardiac electrofluid-structure interaction problem, whose solution is typically computationally intensive due to the need to suitably treat the coupling of the different submodels. Our ...

A redox dual-flow battery is distinct from a traditional redox flow battery (RFB) in that the former includes a secondary energy platform, in which the pre-charged electrolytes can be discharged in external catalytic reactors through decoupled redox-mediat ...

The numerical solution of singular eigenvalue problems is complicated by the fact that small perturbations of the coefficients may have an arbitrarily bad effect on eigenvalue accuracy. However, it has been known for a long time that such perturbations are ...

The intrinsic stability of the 5 V LiCoPO4-LiCo2P3O10 thin-film (carbon-free) cathode material coated with MoO3 thin layer is studied using a comprehensive synchrotron electron spectroscopy in situ approach combined with firstprinciple calculations. The at ...

Regulating the local microenvironment of active sites to increase their specific CO2 concentration and pH gradient, is a promising approach to optimize the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (eCO(2)RR). However, currently reported morphological strateg ...

Soft switching in dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters enables their efficient operation at high frequencies, where the reduction in the size of magnetic components could result in ultra-high power densities. Nonetheless, losing soft-switching at high frequ ...

A family of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides known as MXenes has received increasing attention since the discovery of Ti3C2 in 2011. To date, about 30 different MXenes with well-defined structures and properties have been synthesized, and many mor ...
