Carbon-carbon bond cleavage mechanisms play a key role in the selective deconstruction of alkanes and polyolefins. Here, we show that the product distribution, which encompasses carbon range and formation of unsaturated and isomerization products, serves a ...

For the past two decades, linear free energy scaling relationships and volcano plots have seen frequent use as computational tools that aid in understanding and predicting the catalytic behavior of heterogeneous and electrocatalysts. Based on Sabatier's pr ...

Organic radicals are highly active species that can undergo various transformations. Electrochemistry and photochemistry are efficient methods for the generation of these species of high energy, through single electron transfer processes under mild conditi ...

The development of radical-based remote C(sp3)-H functionalizations of redox-active alcohol derivatives, oxidative cycloaddition and rearrangement transformations under visible light photocatalysis constitute the basis of this thesis. The first chapter des ...

The efficient catalytic activation of donor-acceptor aminocyclopropanes lacking the commonly used diester acceptor is reported here in a (3 + 2) dearomative annulation with indoles. Bench-stable tosyl-protected aminocyclopropyl esters were converted into c ...

The 2-pyrone motif occurs frequently in bioactive natural products and is appreciated as synthetic intermediates. However, only few methods allow for diversifying functional group modifications on this relevant heterocycle. The distinct properties of 1-alk ...

To endow metal-free materials with the high catalytic activity that is typically featured by a metal-based catalyst is yet a constant pursuit in the field of catalytic chemistry. In this work, novel functional biochars (DCNs) were prepared from wheat straw ...

The valorisation of the plant biopolymer lignin is now recognised as essential to enabling the economic viability of the lignocellulosic biorefining industry. In this context, the "lignin-first" biorefining approach, in which lignin valorisation is conside ...

Domino processes initiated by intramolecular nucleopalladation of alkynes have been developed into powerful synthetic tools for the synthesis of functionalized heterocycles. However, a catalytic enantioselective version of this class of reactions remains s ...

We report herein the first examples of a palladiumcatalyzed enantioselective Cacchi reaction for the synthesis of indoles bearing a chiral C2-aryl axis. In the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2 and (R,R)-QuinoxP* ligand, reaction of N-aryl(alkyl)s ...

We report the first examples of catalytic enantioselective benzilic ester rearrangement reaction. In the presence of a catalytic amount of Cu(OTf)(2) and a chiral box ligand under mild conditions, reaction of 2,3-diketoesters with alcohols afforded structu ...

Carboxymethyl cellulose/copper oxide-nickel oxide (CMC/CuO-NiO) nanocomposite beads were prepared by facile, simple and environmentally friendlymethod. Initially, CuO-NiOwas prepared and applied for the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The resu ...

In the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(TFA)2 and a chiral Pyox ligand under oxygen atmosphere, oxidative Heck reaction between arylboronic acids and 4- substituted or 4,4-disubstituted cyclopent-1-enes afforded the chiral arylated products with concur ...

Understanding the mechanisms behind chemical transformations is key to developing improved catalytic systems. To this end, operando spectroscopy has contributed significantly to the advancement of our molecular view of many reactions at the heart of the ch ...

The potent nucleophilicity and remarkably low basicity of 1,3,2- diazaphospholenes (DAPs) is exploited in a catalytic, metal-free 1,4-reduction of free ,-unsaturated carboxylic acids. Notably, the reduction occurs without a prior deprotonation of the car ...

The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) is envisioned to play a significant role in achieving carbon neutrality while contributing to storing renewable energies. Cu-based materials are among the most promising electrocatalysts. However, 16 diffe ...
