In the last decades the Internet traffic has greatly evolved. The advent of new Internet services and applications has, in fact, led to a significant growth of the amount of data transmitted, as well as to a transformation of the data type. As a matter of ...

Cloud storage services, like Dropbox and Google Drive, have growing ecosystems of 3rd party apps that are designed to work with users’ cloud files. Such apps often request full access to users’ files, including files shared with collaborators. Hence, whene ...

In this paper, we consider a cache aided network in which each user is assumed to have individual caches, while upon users’ requests, an update message is sent through a common link to all users. First, we formulate a general information theoretic setting ...

Multiparty videoconferences, or more generally multiparty video calls, are gaining a lot of popularity as they offer a rich communication experience. These applications have however, large requirements in terms of both network and computational resources a ...

Computer networks are an important part of our life. Yet, they are traditionally hard to manage and operate. The recent shift to Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is promised to change the way in which the networks are run by their operators. However, SDN ...

Popular anonymity mechanisms such as Tor provide low communication latency but are vulnerable to traffic analysis attacks that can de-anonymize users. Moreover, known traffic-analysis-resistant techniques such as Dissent are impractical for use in latency- ...

In free viewpoint video, a viewer can choose at will any camera angle or the so-called "virtual view" to observe a dynamic 3-D scene, enhancing his/her depth perception. The virtual view is synthesized using texture and depth videos of two anchor camera vi ...

A significant number of pictures are posted to social media sites or exchanged through instant messaging and cloud-based sharing services. Most social media services offer a range of access control mechanisms to protect users privacy. As it is not in the b ...

The emergence of OpenFlow-capable switches enables exciting new network functionality, at the risk of programming errors that make communication less reliable. The centralized programming model, where a single controller program manages the network, seems ...

Peer-to-peer paradigm is increasingly employed for organizing distributed resources for various applications, e.g. content distribution, open storage grid etc. In open environments, even when proper access control mechanisms supervise the access to the res ...

2P data management systems provide a scalable alternative to centralized architectures. Their adoption, however, is limited by the lack of possibility to control the access to the resources stored in the system. We address this problem in the case of struc ...

Structured overlay networks is an important and interesting primitive that can be used by diverse peer-to-peer applications. Multiple overlays can result either because of network partitioning or (more likely) because different groups of peers build such o ...
