Advanced antenna system (AAS) is a viable option for 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) applications. AAS single element is favored to be dual-polarized, wideband, high gain, and compact in order to be utilized for 5G antenna arrays. In this paper, a low complexi ...

5G New Radio (NR) has stringent demands on both performance and complexity for the design of low-density parity-check (LDPC) decoding algorithms and corresponding VLSI implementations. Furthermore, decoders must fully support the wide range of all 5G NR bl ...

Millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies has become a research area of interest in recent years because of providing broad available bandwidth and thus higher data rates. Wideband mmWave antenna is one of the important development areas in wireless communicati ...

Antennas have historically been the most common electromagnetic (EM) technology for wireless communication systems. Antenna as hardware is entirely dependent on the EM properties of the materials used, mostly related to the permittivity and permeability. I ...

Deployable emergency communication systems are a backbone solution for replacing damaged network infrastructures and/or providing high-end services in case of an emergency event. It is important that such systems are up-to-date with the latest mobile netwo ...

In this study, one method of using antennas based on fractals to cover few kinds of public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) communications was presented. Dedicated antenna forms, necessary for antenna design by 5G implementation, were enhanced to suit ...

Bringing cellular capacity into modern trains is challenging because they act as Faraday cages. Building a radio frequency (RF) corridor along the railway tracks ensures a high signal-to-noise ratio and limits handovers. However, building such RF corridors ...

The emerging 5G mobile network technology is envisioned to provide an efficient platform to interconnect machines, objects, and devices in addition to interconnecting people. Equipped with peak data rates, low latency, and massive capacity, 5G technology w ...

In this paper, a wideband four port 2-6 GHz antenna is proposed. One-, two-, and four-port antennas are implemented and characterized between 2 and 6 GHz. The isolation between the ports is improved by connecting and optimizing the ground plane sections. T ...

This paper addresses the design of an antenna array for a portable picocell station with omnidirectional coverage. The proposed solution includes a stacked patch antenna as a single radiating element of the antenna array and a hybrid beamforming network. T ...

Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication is a promising solution for coping with the ever-increasing mobile data traffic because of its large bandwidth. To enable a sufficient link margin, a large antenna array employing directional beamforming, which is ena ...

A single GNSS antenna moving along a known trajectory can be used to synthesize a virtual array in order to apply spatial diversity techniques, e.g. beamforming. With these techniques, referred as synthetic aperture (SA) techniques, the receiver can mitiga ...

In this paper, a lightweight horn antenna array demonstrator is designed and fabricated by means of an additive manufacturing (AM) process that has been optimized for complicated passive radio-frequency (RF) components. The presented design comprises a com ...

Solitons are waveforms that preserve their shape while propagating, as a result of a balance of dispersion and nonlinearity(1,2). Soliton-based data transmission schemes were investigated in the 1980s and showed promise as a way of overcoming the limitatio ...

This paper describes the implementation and performance analysis of the first fully operational beam-space multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna for the spatial multiplexing of two QPSK streams. The antenna is composed of a planar three-port radiat ...

While wireless communication has become an ubiquitous part of our daily life and the world around us, it has not been able yet to deliver the multi-gigabit throughput required for applications like high-definition video transmission or cellular backhaul co ...

MIMO techniques allow remarkable improvements in the reliability and/or transmission rate of wireless communication systems. However, there are several major challenges towards the implementation of conventional MIMO concept in terminals with size, cost, a ...

A novel analog front-end architecture based on complex sub-Nyquist sampling for the intermediate frequency (IF) stage of a mmWave receiver is proposed. With this front-end, the use of a wideband hybrid coupler and two half-rate analog-to-digital converters ...

Mobile communication - anytime, anywhere access to data and communication services - has been continuously increasing since the operation of the first wireless communication link by Guglielmo Marconi. The demand for higher data rates, despite the limited b ...

Crucial developments to the recently introduced signal-space approach for multiplexing multiple data symbols using a single-radio switched antenna are presented. First, we introduce a general framework for expressing the spatial multiplexing relation of th ...
