Results are presented from a search for CP violation in top quark pair production, using proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The data used for this analysis consist of final states with two charged leptons collected by the CMS exp ...

In plasmas composed of massless electrically charged fermions, chirality can be interchanged with magnetic helicity while preserving the total chirality through the quantum chiral anomaly. The decay of turbulent energy in plasmas such as those in the early ...

This thesis presents a measurement of charm mixing and CP-violation parameters using D0 -> K0S pi+ pi- decays. These mixing parameters include the mass and decay-width differences of the mass eigenstates of the D0-D0bar system. A search for Charge-Parity v ...

New sets of parameter tunes for two of the colour reconnection models, quantum chromodynamics-inspired and gluon-move, implemented in the PYTHIA 8 event generator, are obtained based on the default CMS PYTHIA 8 underlying-event tune, CP5. Measurements sens ...

The concept of quasi-symmetry-a perturbatively small deviation from exact symmetry-is introduced and leads to topological materials with strong resilience to perturbations. ...

Dynamic nuclear polarisation (DNP) of solids doped with high-spin metal ions, such as Gd3+, is a useful strategy to enhance the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensitivity for these samples. Spin diffusion can relay polarisation throughout a sample, which ...

We consider the effective interaction of quarks with a new GeV-scale vector particle that couples to electroweak gauge bosons by the so-called effective Chern-Simons (CS) interaction. We call this particle the CS boson. We construct effective Lagrangian of ...

The corner transfer matrix renormalization group (CTMRG) algorithm has been extensively used to investigate both classical and quantum two-dimensional (2D) lattice models. The convergence of the algorithm can strongly vary from model to model depending on ...

We study an attractive scenario, "Sleptonic SUSY", which reconciles the 125 GeV Higgs scalar and the non-observation of superpartners thus far with potentially pivotal roles for slepton phenomenology: providing viable ongoing targets for LHC discovery, inc ...

An important feature of turbulent boundary layers are persistent large-scale coherent structures in the flow. Here, we use Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD), a data-driven technique designed to detect spatio-temporal coherence, to construct optimal low-dime ...

A key aim of the HighNESS project for the European Spallation Source is to enable cutting-edge particle physics experiments. This volume presents a conceptual design report for the NNBAR experiment. NNBAR would exploit a new cold lower moderator to make th ...

We review four most precise measurements from charm physics program at the LHCb during 2021. These include the first observation of non-zero mass difference between neutral charm-meson eigenstates, the world most precise determination of both time-dependen ...

Understanding looping probabilities, including the particular case of ring closure or cyclization, of fluctuating polymers (e.g., DNA) is important in many applications in molecular biology and chemistry. In a continuum limit the configuration of a polymer ...

In materials, certain approximated symmetry operations can exist in a lower-order approximation of the effective model but are good enough to influence the physical responses of the system, and these approximated symmetries were recently dubbed "quasisymme ...

We introduce a classification of the radial spin textures in momentum space that emerge at the high-symmetry points in crystals characterized by nonpolar chiral point groups (D2, D3, D4, D6, T, O). Based on the symmetry constraints imposed by these point g ...

The nu MSM an extension of the Standard Model by three relatively light singlet Majorana fermions N-1,N-2,N-3 allows for the generation of lepton asymmetry which is several orders of magnitude larger than the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe. The ...

Two-dimensional systems with C2T (PT) symmetry exhibit the Euler class topology E is an element of Z in each two-band subspace realizing a fragile topology beyond the symmetry indicators. By systematically studying the energy levels of Euler insulating pha ...

ESP particle collector (1) for collecting particles in a particle containing gas stream, comprising an inlet section (4), a collector section (6), and an electrode arrangement (8), the inlet section comprising a flow tube (10) defining a gas flow channel ( ...

The beginning of 21st century provided us with many answers about how to reach the channel capacity. Polarization and spatial coupling are two techniques for achieving the capacity of binary memoryless symmetric channels under low-complexity decoding algor ...

Joint analyses of cross-correlations between measurements of galaxy positions, galaxy lensing, and lensing of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) offer powerful constraints on the large-scale structure of the Universe. In a forthcoming analysis, we will ...
