In recent years, sweat has gained increasing attention from the scientific community as a new analyte for health monitoring. The main advantage with respect to the "Gold Standard" for laboratory analysis, i.e. blood, is of course the possibility of perform ...

On-surface synthesis has become a prominent method for growing low-dimensional carbon-based nanomaterials on metal surfaces. However, the necessity of decoupling organic nanostructures from metal substrates to exploit their properties requires either trans ...

In this letter, we characterize the electrical properties of commercial bulk 40-nm MOSFETs at room and deep cryogenic temperatures, with a focus on quantum information processing (QIP) applications. At 50 mK, the devices operate as classical FETs or quantu ...

Nonlinear photoluminescence (N-PL) is a broadband photon emission arising from a nonequilibrium heated electron distribution generated at the surface of metallic nanostructures by ultrafast pulsed laser illumination. N-PL is sensitive to surface morphology ...

Solution processing is an attractive alternative to standard vacuum fabrication techniques for the large-area manufacturing of metal oxide (MOx)-based electron devices. Here, we report on thin-film transistors (TFTs) based on a solution-processed indium zi ...

In this work we report the fabrication, co-integration and resulting performance of 2D/2D van der Waals (vdW) Vertical p-type Tunnel FETs and p-MOSFETs in a WSe2/SnSe2 material system. We demonstrate the best ever reported combined performance in terms of ...

Boltzmann electron energy distribution poses a fundamental limit to lowering the energy dissipation of conventional MOS devices, a minimum increase of the gate voltage, i.e. 60 mV, is required for a 10-fold increase in drain-to-source current at 300 K. Neg ...

In this work, we demonstrate high-performance Enhancement-mode (E-mode) GaN Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor High Electron Mobility Transistors (MOS-HEMTs) on Si substrate achieved by a nanostructured gate region in combination with a large work-function gate met ...

In this work, we present the investigation of the combination of gate recess and tri-gate structures to achieve high performance normally-off GaN-on-Si MOSFETs with high positive threshold voltage ( VTH ), low specific on resistance ( RON,SP ) and high out ...

Here we report novel multi-channel AlGaN/GaN MOSHEMTs with high breakdown voltage (V BR ) and low ON-resistance (R ON ). The multi-channel structure was judiciously designed to yield a small sheet resistance (R s ) of 80 Ω/sq using only four 2DEG channels, ...

Strain is inevitable in two-dimensional (2D) materials, regardless of whether the film is suspended or supported. However, the direct measurement of strain response at the atomic scale is challenging due to the difficulties of maintaining both flexibility ...

The double-gate (DG) junction field-effect transistor (JFET) is a classical electron device, with a simple structure that presents many advantages in terms of device fabrication but also its principle of operation. The device has been largely used in low-n ...

Selective area epitaxy is a promising approach to definenanowirenetworks for topological quantum computing. However, it is challengingto concurrently engineer nanowire morphology, for carrier confinement, and precision doping, to tune carrier density. We re ...

In this paper, we present a detailed investigation of the impact of fin width (w(fin)) on tri-gate AlGaN/GaN metal-oxide-semiconductor high electron mobility transistors (MOSHEMTs). As w(fin) is reduced, the threshold voltage (V-TH) increases, which is due ...

In this paper, we develop an explicit model to predict the dc electrical behavior in ultrathin surrounding gate junctionless (JL) nanowire field-effect transistors (FETs). The proposed model considers 2-D electrical and geometrical confinements of carrier ...

Sustainable development has emerged as a paramount consideration in various fields of industry, including construction, to preserve the environment and its finite resources. Lightweight structures, such as fiber-polymer composite structures, address both s ...

There is a never-ending push for electronic systems to provide faster operation speeds, higher energy efficiencies, and higher power capabilities at smaller scales. These requirements are apparent in different areas of electronics, from radiofrequency (RF) ...

We propose and experimentally demonstrate top-gated complementary n- and p-type black phosphorous field effect devices (FETs) by engineering the workfunction of pre-patterned electrodes embedded in a SiO2 bottom layer. Pre-patterned electrodes offer the ad ...

We propose and experimentally demonstrate double-gated n-type WSe 2 FETs with excellent top gate high-k dielectric layer. Under back gate control, the devices behave as n-type enhancement transistors, with ON/OFF current ratios larger than 6 orders of magn ...

In this work we report a new class of ultra-thin film devices based on n-n van der Waals (vdW) heteroj unctions of MoS2 and VO2, which show remarkable tunable characteristics. The favorable band alignment combined with the sharp and clean vdW interface det ...
