Real-time condition monitoring is crucial for the reliable and efficient operation of complex systems. However, relying solely on physical sensors can be limited due to their cost, placement constraints, or inability to directly measure certain critical pa ...

Machine learning and artificial intelligence methods have achieved remarkable success, matching and even surpassing human capabilities in various complex tasks. However, many demonstrations have generally neglected a critical part of the intelligence that ...

The evolution of airborne mapping witnesses the introduction of hybrid lidar-camera systems to enhance data collection, i.e. to obtain simultaneously high-density point-cloud and texture. Yet, the common adjustment of both optical data streams is a nontriv ...

Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (DMAPS) sensors developed in the Tower Semiconductor 180 nm CMOS imaging process have been designed in the context of the ATLAS ITk upgrade Phase-II at the HL-LHC and for future collider experiments. The "MALTA-Czoch ...

The wireless sensor nodes used for monitoring the condition of grid equipment always be powered by disposable batteries. However, it introduces disadvantages, such as inconvenient replacement, short lifespan, and envi-ronmental pollution, significantly imp ...

MALTA is a depleted monolithic active pixel sensor (DMAPS) developed in the Tower Semiconductor 180-nm CMOS imaging process. Monolithic CMOS sensors offer advantages over current hybrid imaging sensors in terms of both increased tracking performance due to ...

The use of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for air pollution monitoring has significantly increased, resulting in the deployment of low-cost sensors. Despite this advancement, accurately calibrating these sensors in uncontrolled environmental conditions r ...

In high energy physics, semiconductor-based sensors are widely used in particle tracking applications. These sensors are typically glued on low-mass cooling substrates, which guarantee the correct thermal management and, at the same time, minimise their in ...

Assessing the impact of violent conflict on Syrian agriculture is challenging given data limitations and attributability issues. Using satellite data at 30 m spatial resolution, we found that the extent of productive cropland showed greater interannual var ...

The purpose of this research has a background in the market for Internet of Things (IoT)devices and wireless sensor networks. The Market Forecast predicts the connection of a trillion"things" by 2025. The global smart sensor market size trend grows from US ...

Pixelation is common in quantum imaging systems and limit the image spatial resolution. Here, the authors introduce a pixel super-resolution approach based on measuring the full spatially-resolved joint probability distribution of spatially-entangled photo ...

Fluoxetine (FL) is one of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which is used as an anti-depressant, as well as anti-panic drug. In this work, a sensor for label-free recognition of trace amounts of FL is introduced, which is based on an extended ga ...

Gas sensing systems and devices based on metal oxides are widely spreading due to their high performance in terms of sensor response and relatively low costs. Despite several experimental studies, as well as molecular simulations, are available in the lite ...

Despite numerous applications of physically-based models for incised landscapes, their applicability for overland flow on unchanneled surfaces is not known. This work challenges a widely used landscape evolution model for the case of non-uniform rainfall a ...

The upgrade of the MALTA DMAPS designed in Tower 180 nm CMOS Imaging process will implement the numerous modifications, as well as front-end changes in order to boost the charge collection efficiency after the targeted fluence of 1x10(15) 1 MeVn(eq)/cm(2). ...

Medipix4 is the latest member in the Medipix/Timepix family of pixel detector chips aimed at high rate spectroscopic X-ray imaging using high-Z materials. The chip address the limitations of conventional hybrid pixel detectors for X-ray imaging. Its predec ...

To achieve the physics goals of future colliders, it is necessary to develop novel, radiation-hard silicon sensors for their tracking detectors. We target the replacement of hybrid pixel detectors with Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) that ...

The different receptors in human skin show not only diversity in the stimuli to which they respond, but also variable sensitivity and directionality. This is often determined by their location or morphology, and can play an important role in filtering or a ...

Human nutrition and dietary habits shape our health, daily life, societies, the environment, and life on earth in general. However, it remains challenging to understand and attempt to change dietary behaviors using traditional methods due to measurement an ...
