This paper presents a comprehensive study of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si)-based detectors, utilizing electrical characterization, Raman spectroscopy, photoemission, and inverse photoemission techniques. The unique properties of a-Si have sparked i ...

A methodology for the C-H azidation of N-terminal proline-containing peptides was developed employing only commercially available reagents. Peptides bearing a broad range of functionalities and containing up to 6 amino acids were selectively azidated at th ...

Cysteine cathepsins proteases are enzymes that play essential physiological roles, but their activity is also associated to different aspects of cancer progression and to the development of other diseases. Therefore, cysteine cathepsins are relevant and pr ...

Supramolecular self-assembly in water based on non-covalent bonding is attracting major attention due to the potential of hydrogels and aqueous polymers in biomedical applications. Although supramolecular polymerization in organic solvents is well establis ...

On-surface synthesis has become a prominent method for growing low-dimensional carbon-based nanomaterials on metal surfaces. However, the necessity of decoupling organic nanostructures from metal substrates to exploit their properties requires either trans ...

NMR crystallography has been around for half a century, but with the advent of NMR crystal structure determination protocols in the last decade it has shown perspectives that were not seen before. Amalgamation of NMR and crystal structure determination has ...

Here, we present new cryogenic infrared spectra of the (Imidazole) H-n(+) (n=1,2,3) ions. The data was obtained using helium tagging infrared predissociation spectroscopy. The new results were compared with the data obtained by Gerardi et al. (Chem. Phys. ...

Symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) is a popular and versatile tool to compute and decompose noncovalent interaction energies between molecules. The intramolecular SAPT (ISAPT) variant provides a similar energy decomposition between two nonbonded f ...

The allene radical cation can be stabilized both by Jahn-Teller distortion of the bond lengths and by torsion of the end-groups. However, only the latter happens and the allene radical cation relaxes into a twisted D-2 symmetry structure with equal double- ...

Zirconium-based cladding tubes, mainly used as fuel cladding materials in light water reactors, serve as the primary barrier insulating the radioactive fission products from the environment. During operation, the cladding interacts with the coolant water, ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a rapidly growing class of materials that offer great promise in various applications. However, the synthesis remains challenging: for example, a range of crystal structures can often be accessed from the same building b ...

The conversion of intermittent renewable energy resources in the form of chemical bond, such as hydrogen production from electrochemical water splitting, is a promising way to satisfy the future global energy demand and address the environmental issues. Th ...

Bond between reinforcing bars and concrete plays a crucial role in the behaviour of reinforced concrete structures, often characterized by the bond stress-slip relationship. Numerous relationships exist in the literature, incorporating various parameters a ...

Modifying the properties of bio-based materials has garnered increasing interest in recent years. In related applications, the ability of alginates to complex with metal ions has been shown to be effective in liquid-to-gel transitions, useful in the develo ...

The weak carbon-metal bond combined with the kinetic inertness of the carbon-carbon bond renders metal-catalysed C-C bond activation to be highly challenging. Most of the reported C-C bond activation methodologies involve strain-releasing cleavage of small ...

Last year, a preprint gained notoriety, proposing that a k-nearest neighbour classifier is able to outperform large-language models using compressed text as input and normalised compression distance (NCD) as a metric. In chemistry and biochemistry, molecul ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...

Knowledge of the oxidation state of metal centres in compounds and materials helps in the understanding of their chemical bonding and properties. Chemists have developed theories to predict oxidation states based on electron-counting rules, but these can f ...

A pressure-induced triclinic-to-monoclinic phase transition has been caught 'in the act' over a wider series of high-pressure synchrotron diffraction experiments conducted on a large, photoluminescent organo-gold(I) compound. Here, we describe the mechanis ...

Tetrel Lewis acids are a prospective alternative to commonly employed neutral boranes in frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) chemistry. While cationic tetrylium Lewis acids, being isolobal and iso(valence)electronic, are a natural replacement to boranes, neutral t ...
