This paper introduces a novel method for data-driven robust control of nonlinear systems based on the Koopman operator, utilizing Integral Quadratic Constraints (IQCs). The Koopman operator theory facilitates the linear representation of nonlinear system d ...

In light of the challenges posed by climate change and the goals of the Paris Agreement, electricity generation is shifting to a more renewable and decentralized pattern, while the operation of systems like buildings is increasingly electrified. This calls ...

Infrared and Raman spectroscopies are ubiquitous techniques employed in many experimental laboratories, thanks to their fast and non-destructive nature able to capture materials' features as spectroscopic fingerprints. Nevertheless, these measurements freq ...

Volume electron microscopy is the method of choice for the in situ interrogation of cellular ultrastructure at the nanometer scale, and with the increase in large raw image datasets generated, improving computational strategies for image segmentation and s ...

River networks play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle, as relevant sources of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere. Advancements in high-frequency monitoring in aquatic environments have enabled measurement of dissolved CO2 concentration at tempo ...

Superconducting electronics provide us with cryogenic digital circuits that can rival established technologies in performance and energy consumption. Today, the lack of tools for the design of large-scale integrated superconducting circuits is a major obst ...

This paper proposes a data-driven control design method for nonlinear systems that builds upon the Koopman operator framework. In particular, the Koopman operator is used to lift the nonlinear dynamics to a higher-dimensional space where the so-called obse ...

The European Union's Green Deal aims for a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. To reach this goal, a massive integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) into the power grid is necessary. As RES become a large part of the electricity genera ...

TimberSLAM (TSLAM) is an object-centered, tag-based visual self-localization and mapping (SLAM) system for monocular RGB cameras. It was specifically developed to support a robust and augmented reality pipeline for close-range, noisy, and cluttered fabrica ...

Recently, there has been an arms race of pose forecasting methods aimed at solving the spatio-temporal task of predicting a sequence of future 3D poses of a person given a sequence of past observed ones. However, the lack of unified benchmarks and limited ...

Macroscopic fundamental diagrams (MFDs) have been widely adopted to model the traffic flow of large-scale urban networks. Coupling perimeter control and regional route guidance (PCRG) is a promising strategy to decrease congestion heterogeneity and reduce ...

Drones hold promise to assist in civilian tasks. To realize this application, future drones must operate within large cities, covering large distances while navigating within cluttered urban landscapes. The increased efficiency of winged drones over rotary ...

In this thesis we study stability from several viewpoints. After covering the practical importance, the rich history and the ever-growing list of manifestations of stability, we study the following. (i) (Statistical identification of stable dynamical syste ...

Advancing quantum technologies depends on the precise control of individual quantum systems, the so-called qubits, and the exploitation of their quantum properties. Nowadays, expanding the number of qubits to be entangled is at the core of the developments ...

Multiparty homomorphic encryption (MHE) enables a group of parties to encrypt data in a way that (i) enables the evaluation of functions directly over its ciphertexts and (ii) enforces a joint cryptographic access-control over the underlying data. By exten ...

Cloud computing environments increasingly provision FPGAs because of their fine-grained, highly parallel, and flexible hardware architecture. The availability of FPGAs in the cloud fueled research on the security risks associated with exposing FPGA fabric ...

Augmented reality in additive fabrication is predominantly applied to the manufacturing of structures from regularly shaped materials. Our work however embraces natural heterogeneity, by focusing on the assembly of irregularly shaped elements such as miner ...

Atomic force microscopy (AFM), a member of the scanning probe microscopy (SPM) family, holds a unique position as a nano-characterization instrument in the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology. Its ability to provide atomic resolution and operate in v ...

Hand gestures are one of the most natural and expressive way for humans to convey information, and thus hand gesture recognition has become a research hotspot in the human-machine interface (HMI) field. In particular, biological signals such as surface ele ...

Frequency Response Function (FRF)-based control synthesis methods for Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) systems have been widely used in control theory and industry. Recently, there has been renewed interest in these methods, employing numerical optimization too ...
