Our motivation in this paper is twofold. First, we study the geometry of a class of exploration sets, called exit sets, which are naturally associated with a 2D vector-valued Gaussian Free Field:

\phi : \mathbb{Z}^2 \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^N

N \ge 1

. W ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a rapidly growing class of materials that offer great promise in various applications. However, the synthesis remains challenging: for example, a range of crystal structures can often be accessed from the same building b ...

One key bottleneck of solid-state NMR spectroscopy is that H-1 NMR spectra of organic solids are often very broad due to the presence of a strong network of dipolar couplings. We have recently suggested a new approach to tackle this problem. More specifica ...

The complexes [Co (NH3)(6)][Ir (C2O4)(3)] and [Ir(NH3)(6)][Co (C2O4)(3)center dot H2O have previously been synthesized and their thermal properties studied. The [Ir(NH3)(6)][Ir(C2O4)(3)] and [Co(NH3)(6)][Co(C2O4)(3)]center dot 3H(2)O complexes considered h ...

In the field of magnetoelectric coupling, especially via the spin-dependent metal-ligand d-p hybridization mechanism found in multiferroic Ba2MGe2O7 (M = Mn, Co), detailed knowledge of the microscopic structural parameters is essential, also for the theore ...

Among the 14 lanthanide elements (Ce-Lu), until recently, the tetravalent oxidation state was readily accessible in solution only for cerium while Pr(iv), Nd(iv), Dy(iv) and Tb(iv) had only been detected in the solid state. The triphenylsiloxide ligand rec ...

Magnetic structure of the Co ions in monoclinic Co3TeO6 in the antiferroelectric state at 16 K has been determined by neutron powder together with single-crystal diffractions. The indices of the magnetic reflections that appear at the incommensurate positi ...

Raw data associated to the manuscript “Cubic, hexagonal and tetragonal FeGex phases (x = 1, 1.5, 2): Raman spectroscopy and magnetic properties", CrystEngComm 2021, XXXX, XXX, XXX-XXX There is currently an emerging drive to computational materials design ...

Semiconductors made with earth abundant elements are promising as absorbers in future large-scale deployment of photovoltaic technology. This paper reports on the epitaxial synthesis of monocrystalline zinc phosphide (Zn_3 P_2) films with thicknesses up to ...

Four new Schiff-bases have been synthesized from the 1:2 M condensation of 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzothiazole-2,6-diamine with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (SL3), 5-Bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (SL2), 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (SL3) and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehy ...

The thermo-catalytic synthesis of hydrocarbons from CO2 and H2 is of great interest for the conversion of CO2 into valuable chemicals and fuels. In this work, we aim to contribute to the fundamental understanding of the effect of alloying on the reaction y ...

While in 3D materials melting is a single, first-order phase transition, in 2D systems, it can also proceed via an intermediate phase. For a skyrmion lattice in Cu2OSeO3, magnetic field variations can tune this quasiparticle 2D solid into a skyrmion liquid ...

Knowledge of the atomic-level structure is key to understanding and predicting properties of materials. X-ray diffraction (XRD) is the methods of choice for structures containing well-defined long-range order. However, many materials contain various degree ...

Perovskite derived Ni catalysts offer the remarkable benefit of regeneration after catalyst poisoning or Ni particle growth through the reversible segregation of Ni from the perovskite-type oxide host. Although this property allows for repeated catalyst re ...

A lanthanide-based metal-organic framework (MOF) named SION-2 displays strong and tuneable uniaxial negative thermal expansion (NTE). The coefficient of thermal expansion alpha(1) reaches -153(6) MK-1 between 100 and 340 K, which is the highest value repor ...

Surfaces engineering on titanium biomedical alloys aiming for improving bone regeneration, healing periods and increasing lifetime needs fora fundamental understanding of the electrochemical reactions occurring at the interface biomaterial/human fluid. The ...

H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxometry, supported by X-Ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis, has been used to characterise microstructure of white cement pastes underwater cured at temperatures in the range 10 degrees C to 60 degrees C. ...

Brookite TiO2 is the most difficult TiO2 polymorph to synthesize. The available methods in the literature to produce brookite nanostructures mostly use water-based techniques for the preparation of water-soluble Ti complexes first, followed by a hydrotherm ...

Despite increasing attention for the recently found ferro- and antiferroelectric properties, the polymorphism in hafnia- and zirconia-based thin films is still not sufficiently understood. In the present work, we show that it is important to have a good qu ...
