We present a simple PDE construction of the sine‐Gordon measure below the first threshold (), in both the finite and infinite volume settings, by studying the corresponding parabolic sine‐Gordon model. We also establish pathwise global well‐posedness of th ...

The transition from planar to three-dimensional (3D) magnetic nanostructures represents a significant advancement in both fundamental research and practical applications, offering vast potential for next-generation technologies like ultrahigh-density stora ...

This paper presents a combination of three computational methods in a hybrid approach designed to model the radiation of antennas within arbitrarily shaped capsules implanted in a host body. A surface method of moments is employed to represent the radiatio ...

The ionization of the residual gas in gyrotrons causes the generation of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons. Using the electron optics code Ariadne, it was possible to simulate the behavior of these electrons in the overall gyrotron g ...

Performance limitations for implanted antennas, taking radiation efficiency as the metric, are presented. The performance limitations use a convex optimization procedure with the current density inside the implant acting as its degree of freedom. The knowl ...

Several recent publications show that the electromagnetic radiation generated by transmitting antennas satisfy the following universal conditions: The time domain radiation fields satisfy the condition A ≥ h/4π ⇒ q ≥ e where A is the action of the radiatio ...

We discuss the multiscale modeling of a granular material trapped between continuum elastic domains. The amorphous granular region, usually termed “gouge,” is under high confinement pressure, to represent the loading of faults at depth. We model the granul ...

In this paper, a rigorous and independent validation of two different approaches for calculating the ground-return impedance and admittance of multiconductor underground cable systems using the transmission line theory is carried out. Furthermore, analyses ...

Wave phenomena manifest in nature as electromagnetic waves, acoustic waves, and gravitational waves among others. Their descriptions as partial differential equations in electromagnetics, acoustics, and fluid dynamics are ubiquitous in science and engineer ...

Recent research work shows that there are four procedures that can be used to calculate the electromagnetic fields from a current source. These different procedures, even though producing the same total field, give rise to field components that differ from ...

A theoretical description of light emission, propagation and re-absorption in semiconductor multilayer stacks is derived based on the transverse Green's function of the electromagnetic field in the presence of a complex dielectric. The canonical dipole emi ...

The OpenFOAM Fuel BEhavior Analysis Tool, or OFFBEAT, is a multi-dimensional fuel performance code under collaborative development at the Laboratory for Reactor Physics and Systems Behaviour (LRS) of the EPFL and at the PSI. The code can be used both for s ...

By using the first-principles approach, we derive a system of three quantum kinetic equations governing the production and evolution of charged scalar particles by an electric field in an expanding universe. Analyzing the ultraviolet asymptotic behavior of ...

This work focuses on the development of a non-conforming method for the coupling of PDEs based on weakly imposed transmission conditions: the continuity of the global solution is enforced by a finite number of Lagrange multipliers defined over the interfac ...

This paper investigates the fundamental mechanisms behind the effect of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) on the basic creep behavior of cement pastes. The intrinsic creep properties of the C-S-H gel are assessed based on measurements of uniaxial ...

The theme of this thesis revolves around three important manifestations of light, namely its corpuscular, wave and electromagnetic nature. Our goal is to exploit these principles to analyze, design and build imaging modalities by developing new signal proc ...

In this work we introduce a new two-level preconditioner for the efficient solution of large-scale linear systems arising from the discretization of parametrized PDEs. The proposed preconditioner combines in a multiplicative way a reduced basis solver, whi ...

This paper focuses on modelling of structural response of RC cantilever beams retrofitted with a thin layer of Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced cement-based Composite (UHPFRC). The complex cracking phenomenon of the resulting RC-UHPFRC composite sys ...
