Over the last ten years the attention of the pharmaceutical industry has shifted away from small molecules to focus on new biologics such as antibodies, proteins and therapeutic peptides. Herein, peptides have emerged as a particularly interesting category ...

Immense field enhancement and nanoscale confinement of light are possible within nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) plasmonic resonators, which enable novel optically activated physical and chemical phenomena and render these nanocavities greatly sensitive to m ...

Macrocycles are an attractive class of molecules due to their good binding properties and yet rather small size that allows, in many cases, crossing membranes to reach intracellular targets. In comparison to classical small molecule drugs, macrocycles are ...

Hypervalent iodine compounds are powerful reagents for the development of novel transformations. As they exhibit low toxicity, high functional group tolerance, and stability in biocompatible media, they have been used for the functionalization of biomolecu ...

Peptides that specifically bind erythrocytes are described. These are provided as peptidic ligands having sequences that specifically bind, or as antibodies or fragments thereof that provide specific binding, to erythrocytes. The peptides may be prepared a ...

We present in this work experiments that push the limits of cold ion spectroscopy to the study of complex peptides and small proteins in the gas phase. Although the low temperature attainable in a cold ion trap greatly simplifies the electronic spectra of ...

A photoredox-catalyzed oxidative decarboxylative coupling of small peptides is reported, giving access to a variety of N,O-acetals. They were used as intermediates for the addition of phenols and indoles, leading to novel peptide scaffolds and bioconjugate ...

Combinatorial libraries of structurally diverse peptide macrocycles offer a rich source for the development of high-affinity ligands to targets of interest. In this work we have developed linkers for the generation of genetically encoded bicyclic peptides ...

The function of a peptide is intimately connected to its structure, which in solution is the result of the balance between non-covalent interactions within the molecule and the molecule-solvent interactions. Theory has the power to predict the properties o ...

The oral administration of peptide drugs is hampered by their metabolic instability and limited intestinal uptake. Here, we describe a method for the generation of small target-specific peptides (less than 1,600 Da in size) that resist gastrointestinal pro ...

Hydrolytic: cleavage of the oligopeptides Ace-Ala-Lys-Tyr-Gly similar to Gly-Met-Ala-Ala-Arg-Ala and Ace-Lys-Gly-Gly-Ala-Gly similar to Pro-Met-Ala-Ala-Arg-Gly by Pd(H2O)(4) was theoretically investigated by using molecular dynamics simulations and q ...

Nanopharmaceuticals or nanomedicines are defined as nanometer sized (1 to 1000 nm) complex systems, consisting of at least two components, one of which being the biologically active moiety such as a drug, peptide, protein or nucleotide. Several nano-sized ...

Because of the importance of helices in the secondary structure of proteins, we have undertaken a study of their spectroscopy, fragmentation patterns and conformations in the gas phase. In this work, we describe the effects of substitution at the N-terminu ...

Peptides constitute an important class of drugs for the treatment of multiple metabolic, ontological, and neurodegenerative diseases, and several hundred novel therapeutic peptides are currently in the preclinical and clinical stages of development. Howeve ...
