In recent years, the emphasis on computational thinking (CT) has intensified as an effect of accelerated digitalisation. While most researchers are concentrating on defining CT and developing tools for its instruction and assessment, we focus on the charac ...

A de facto standard approach in solving computer vision tasks is to use a common high-resolution camera and choose its placement on an agent based on human intuition. On the other hand, extremely simple and well-designed visual sensors found throughout nat ...

In the growing field of closed-loop neuromodulation, designing power-and area-efficient analog front-ends (AFEs) for neural recording poses a significant challenge. Thus, an effective design flow is needed to ensure system's hardware efficiency and to auto ...

This paper gives a new formulation to synthesize load-responsive structures through shape morphing. The design method is based on the minimization of the whole-life energy, which comprises an embodied share in the material and an operational share for adap ...

The Pixel Luminosity Telescope is a silicon pixel detector dedicated to luminosity measurement at the CMS experiment at the LHC. It is located approximately 1.75 m from the interaction point and arranged into 16 "telescopes", with eight telescopes installe ...

Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) provides an important capability for managing the complexities of system development. MBSE empowers the formalism of system architectures for supporting model-based requirement elicitation, specification, design, deve ...

Interlocking puzzles are intriguing geometric games where the puzzle pieces are held together based on their geometric arrangement, preventing the puzzle from falling apart. High-level-of-difficulty, or simply high-level, interlocking puzzles are a subclas ...

How does an abandoned structure relate to the notion of failure ? What happens to the project once its abandonment is acted ? Based on a research work carried out on a large corpus of abandoned buildings, this article follows the trajectory drawn in time b ...

We present a novel method for isogeometric analysis (IGA) to directly work on geometries constructed by Boolean operations including difference (i.e., trimming), union, and intersection. Particularly, this work focuses on the union operation, which involve ...

Tensegrity structures have been widely utilized as lightweight structures due to their high stiffness-to-mass and strength-to-mass ratios. Minimal mass design of tensegrity structures subject to external loads and specific constraints (e.g., member yieldin ...
