Long global gyrokinetic turbulence simulations are particularly challenging in situations where the system deviates strongly from its initial state and when fluctuation levels are high, for example, in strong gradient regions. For particle-in-cell simulati ...

Long Range (LoRa) is an emerging low-power wide-area network technology offering long-range wireless connectivity to Internet of Things (IoT) devices. For energy efficiency reasons, LoRa end nodes implement a nonslotted ALOHA multiple access scheme to tran ...

Over-the-air computation (AirComp) is a disruptive technique for fast wireless data aggregation in Internet of Things (IoT) networks via exploiting the waveform superposition property of multiple-access channels. However, the performance of AirComp is bott ...

LoRaWAN is a low-power wireless technology that provides long-range connectivity to battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices. To minimize the energy consumption of the IoT nodes, LoRaWAN networks use for the uplink a pure non-slotted ALOHA multiple ...

In-band full-duplex systems promise to further increase the throughput of wireless systems, by simultaneously transmitting and receiving on the same frequency band. However, concurrent transmission generates a strong self-interference signal at the receive ...

Wireless communications are currently faced with two main challenges. The first challenge stems from the enormous number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices that transmit very small amounts of data. The second challenge is the need for ever-increasing data ...

Sampling is classically performed by recording the amplitude of the input at given time instants; however, sampling and reconstructing a signal using multiple devices in parallel becomes a more difficult problem to solve when the devices have an unknown sh ...

In this paper we study a multi-channel network, each station of which is equipped with a network interface that has a receiver buffer of multiple packets. In this way, each station is able to receive multiple packets per time instant. We adopt a synchronou ...

We present a practical strategy that aims to attain rate points on the dominant face of the multiple access channel capacity using a standard low complexity decoder. This technique is built upon recent theoretical developments of Zhu and Gastpar on compute ...

Computation codes in network information theory are designed for scenarios where the decoder is not interested in recovering the information sources themselves, but only a function thereof. Körner and Marton showed for distributed source coding (DSC) that ...

Over the last few years, residential and enterprise networking have faced several challenges due to the increasing demand of users for high-throughput connectivity. As a result, efforts are being made to improve coverage, throughput, and robustness. Severa ...

A time-division multiplexing (TDM) digital channel coding scheme for wireline multi-drop interfaces has been proposed. Shaping the TX spectrum to avoid channel frequency notches, the proposed digital TDM signaling reduces inter-symbol interference (ISI) an ...

For a two-user Gaussian multiple access channel, computation codes are designed for the scenarios where the decoder is not interested in decoding the two codewords, but only the sum of them. It has been observed that good computation codes should possess s ...

A time-division multiplexing (TDM) digital channel coding scheme with inter-symbol interference (ICI) reduction property for multi-drop memory interfaces has been proposed. Shaping the TX spectrum to avoid channel frequency notches, the proposed digital TD ...

While wired infrastructure constitutes the backbone of most wireless networks, wireless systems appeal the most to the dynamic and rapidly evolving requirements of today's communication systems because of their ease of deployment and mobility, not to menti ...

Inspired by the compute-and-forward scheme from Nazer and Gastpar, a novel multiple-access scheme introduced by Zhu and Gastpar makes use of nested lattice codes and sequential decoding of linear combinations of codewords to recover the individual messages ...

Power-line communications (PLC) are becoming a key component in home networking, because they provide easy and high-throughput connectivity. The dominant MAC protocol for high data-rate PLC, the IEEE 1901, employs a CSMA/CA mechanism similar to the backoff ...

The present invention concerns a method for a communication device to transmit a data packet in a wireless communication system. The method comprises: determining (21) a first set of transmission parameters comprising a first central transmission frequency ...

Hardware imperfections can significantly reduce the performance of full-duplex wireless systems by introducing non-idealities and random effects that make it challenging to fully suppress self-interference. Previous research has mostly focused on analysing ...

We consider a physical-layer network coding strategy for the random-access channel, based on compute-and-forward. When packets collide, it is possible to reliably recover a linear combination of the packets at the receiver. Over many rounds of transmission ...
