This paper addresses the uniaxial tensile response of Strain Hardening Ultra High-Performance Fiber Reinforced Concretes (SH-UHPFRC) subjected to very low strain rates and low temperatures. The influence of four different strain rates; 1 × 10−5, 1 × 10−7, ...

Porous brittle solids evidence complex mechanical behavior, where localized failure patterns originate from mechanical processes on the microstructural level. In order to investigate the failure mechanics of porous brittle solids, we outline a general stoc ...

There has been a considerable interest in developing stiff, strong, tough, and highly stretchable hydrogels in various fields of science and technology including biomedical and sensing applications. However, simultaneous optimization of stiffness, strength ...

The tensile response of strain hardening UHPFRC under full restraint, subjected to curing temperatures of 20 °C, 10 °C, 5 °C, was investigated for two types of mixes with silica fume; Mix I with pure type I cement and Mix II with 50% replacement of cement ...

The use of cellular ceramics in enhancing the performance of a high-temperature latent heat thermal energy storage unit was investigated. A detailed design methodology is presented, which consists of a combined analytical-numerical analysis followed by a m ...

The effect of silylation of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) surfaces on β‐phase formation in poly(vinylidene difluoride) (PVDF) and the resulting viscoelastic and dielectric performance of MFC‐PVDF composites is investigated. Two different organosilanes, ...

In this work, the macrotexture of dense Zn produced by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) was studied and the mechanical properties for different tensile bar orientations were measured. The compressive strength of LPBF Zn scaffolds with five different unit cel ...

PE-UHPFRC is a new Ultra High-Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC), which is developed to reduce the environmental impact of conventional UHPFRC by replacing the steel fibers with synthetic ones and reducing the clinker content in the mix. The de ...

Intracranial aneurysm is a cerebrovascular disease characterized by an artery dilation in the brain. An aneurysm is prone to rupture, which causes a life-threatening subarachnoid hemorrhage. The major drawbacks of the current treatments, open surgical clip ...

The mechanical response of individual titanate nanowires (H2Ti3O7), synthesized in an upscaled production (kg/month) was investigated by means of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) in nanomechanical spectroscopic mode. Because of their layered structure, bes ...
