The perception of one's own body is subject to systematic distortions and can be influenced by exposure to visual stimuli showing distorted bodies. In Virtual Reality (VR), echoing such body judgment inaccuracies, avatars with strong appearance dissimilari ...

Real-time condition monitoring is crucial for the reliable and efficient operation of complex systems. However, relying solely on physical sensors can be limited due to their cost, placement constraints, or inability to directly measure certain critical pa ...

The transition from planar to three-dimensional (3D) magnetic nanostructures represents a significant advancement in both fundamental research and practical applications, offering vast potential for next-generation technologies like ultrahigh-density stora ...

Once contact with a pathogen has occurred, it might be too late for the immune system to react. Here, we asked whether anticipatory neural responses might sense potential infections and signal to the immune system, priming it for a response. We show that p ...

Because of the depth of the hippocampal-entorhinal complex (HC-EC) in the brain, understanding of its role in spatial navigation via neuromodulation was limited in humans. Here, we aimed to better elucidate this relationship in healthy volunteers, using tr ...

Micro-cameras such as the 'vision-in-package' (VIP) can be used as a wearable for user-centric glare estimations. Yet, there is a lack of methodologies to use such head-mounted device and their outputs to obtain reliable glare evaluations. This paper focus ...

Machine learning is often cited as a new paradigm in control theory, but is also often viewed as empirical and less intuitive for students than classical model-based methods. This is particularly the case for reinforcement learning, an approach that does n ...

Cybersickness still poses a significant challenge to the widespread usage of virtual reality, leading to different levels of dis- comfort and potentially breaking the immersive experience. Researchers have attempted to discover the possible fundamental cau ...

The adoption of technology in urban participatory planning with tools such as Virtual Geographic Environments (VGE) promises a broader engagement of urban dwellers, which should ultimately lead to the creation of better cities. However, the authorities and ...
