Using an SU(2) invariant finite-temperature tensor network algorithm, we provide strong numerical evidence in favor of an Ising transition in the collinear phase of the spin-1/2 J(1)-J(2) Heisenberg model on the square lattice. In units of J(2), the critic ...

The classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model enjoys the symmetry of the full conformal group if the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero. This is a hint that conformal symmetry may play a fundamental role in the ultimate theory describing nature. The o ...

We discuss anomalies associated with outer automorphisms in gauge theories based on classical groups, namely charge conjugations for SU(N) and parities for SO(2r). We emphasize the inequivalence (yet related by a flavor transformation) between two versions ...

An important feature of turbulent boundary layers are persistent large-scale coherent structures in the flow. Here, we use Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD), a data-driven technique designed to detect spatio-temporal coherence, to construct optimal low-dime ...

Recent neutron-diffraction experiments in honeycomb CrI3 quasi-2D ferromagnets have evinced the existence of a gap at the Dirac point in their spin-wave spectra. The existence of this gap has been attributed to strong in-plane Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya or Kita ...

We introduce turboMagnon, an implementation of the Liouville-Lanczos approach to linearized time-dependent density-functional theory, designed to simulate spin-wave spectra in solid-state materials. The code is based on the noncollinear spin-polarized fram ...

The magnetic propertiesof transition-metal ions aregenerallydescribed by the atomic spins of the ions and their exchange coupling. The orbital moment, usually largely quenched due the ligand field,is then seen as a perturbation. In such a scheme, S = 1/2 io ...

Computing the GW quasiparticle band structure and Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) absorption spectra for materials with spin-orbit coupling have commonly been done by treating GW corrections and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) as separate perturbations to density- ...

The nature of the gap observed at the zone border in the spin excitation spectrum of CrI3 quasitwo-dimensional single crystals is still controversial. We perform first-principles calculations based on time-dependent density functional perturbation theory, ...

We investigate the classical chiral Ashkin-Teller model on a square lattice with the corner transfer matrix renormalization group algorithm. We show that the melting of the period-4 phase in the presence of a chiral perturbation takes different forms depen ...

Local inversion symmetry breaking in centrosymmetric materials can lead to large spin polarization of the electronic band structure in separate sectors of the unit cell. Here, the authors reveal such hidden spin polarisation in ZrSiTe using spin and angle ...

Studying multi-particle elementary excitations has provided unique access to understand collective many-body phenomena in correlated electronic materials, paving the way towards constructing microscopic models. In this work, we perform O K-edge resonant in ...

The ability to amplify optical signals is of pivotal importance across science and technology typically using rare-earth-doped fibres or gain media based on III-V semiconductors. A different physical process to amplify optical signals is to use the Kerr no ...

The paradigm of second-order phase transitions (PTs) induced by spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) in thermal and quantum systems is a pillar of modern physics that has been fruitfully applied to out-of-equilibrium open quantum systems. Dissipative phase ...

We consider a type-I seesaw framework endowed with a flavour symmetry, belonging to the series of non-abelian groups increment (3 n(2)) and increment (6 n(2)), and a CP symmetry. Breaking these symmetries in a non-trivial way results in the right-handed ne ...

The spin-1/2 Heisenberg model on the pyrochlore lattice is an iconic frustrated three-dimensional spin system with a rich phase diagram. Besides hosting several ordered phases, the model is debated to possess a spin-liquid ground state when only nearest-ne ...

It has been well established experimentally that the interplay of electronic correlations and spin-orbit interactions in Ir4+ and Ir5+ oxides results in insulating J(eff) = 1/2 and J(eff) = 0 ground states, respectively. However, in compounds where the str ...

At finite density, the spontaneous breakdown of an internal non-Abelian symmetry dictates, along with gapless modes, modes whose gap is fixed by the algebra and proportional to the chemical potential: the gapped Goldstones. Generically the gap of these sta ...

We present Molecular Vibration Explorer, a freely accessible online database and interactive tool for exploring vibrational spectra and tensorial lightvibration coupling strengths of a large collection of thiolated molecules. The "Gold" version of the data ...

We present a comprehensive study of a model system of repulsive self-propelled disks in two dimensions with ferromagnetic and nematic velocity alignment interactions. We characterize the phase behavior of the system as a function of the alignment and self- ...
