Using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(2S) events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay eta(c) (2S) -> p (p) over bar via the process psi(2S) -> gamma eta(c)(2S) and only find a signal with a significance of 1.7 sigma. T ...

The determination of transport coefficients through the time-honored Green-Kubo theory of linear response and equilibrium molecular dynamics requires significantly longer simulation times than those of equilibrium properties while being further hindered by ...

Aims. We validate a semi-analytical model for the covariance of the real-space two-point correlation function of galaxy clusters. Methods. Using 1000 PINOCCHIO light cones mimicking the expected Euclid sample of galaxy clusters, we calibrated a simple mode ...

The combination and cross-correlation of the upcoming Euclid data with cosmic microwave background (CMB) measurements is a source of great expectation since it will provide the largest lever arm of epochs, ranging from recombination to structure formation ...

We present a method for fast evaluation of the covariance matrix for a two-point galaxy correlation function (2PCF) measured with the Landy-Szalay estimator. The standard way of evaluating the covariance matrix consists in running the estimator on a large ...

An accurate covariance matrix is essential for obtaining reliable cosmological results when using a Gaussian likelihood. In this paper we study the covariance of pseudo-C-l estimates of tomographic cosmic shear power spectra. Using two existing publicly av ...

Null models are useful for assessing whether a dataset exhibits a non-trivial property of interest. These models have recently gained interest in the neuroimaging community as means to explore dynamic properties of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fM ...

Fiber reinforced polymers are massively used as an alternative to metals in structural applications. The brittle nature of their matrix, however, makes them more susceptible to crack formation and propagation resulting in costly repair operations and incre ...

The doubly Cabibbo- suppressed decay Xi(+)(c) -> p phi with ! K+K is observed for the fi rst time, with a statistical signi fi cance of more than fi fteen standard deviations. The data sample used in this analysis corresponds to an integrated luminosity of ...

We provide predictions of the yield of 7 < z < 9 quasars from the Euclid wide survey, updating the calculation presented in the Euclid Red Book in several ways. We account for revisions to the Euclid near-infrared filter wavelengths; we adopt steeper rates ...

With the progress made in miniaturizing systems over the last decades, understanding materialsâ behavior at small scales has become a necessity. In this context, glass behavior has remained largely unknown, partly for technological reasons and partly due ...

Context. Upcoming spectroscopic galaxy surveys are extremely promising to help in addressing the major challenges of cosmology, in particular in understanding the nature of the dark universe. The strength of these surveys, naturally described in spherical ...

Author Summary In recent years, considerable attention has been given to the evolution of drug resistance in the influenza A H1N1 strain. As a major annual cause of morbidity and mortality, combined with the rapid global spread of drug resistance, influenz ...

We use statistical models for mean and extreme values of total column ozone to analyze "fingerprints" of atmospheric dynamics and chemistry on long-term ozone changes at northern and southern mid-latitudes on grid cell basis. At each grid cell, the r-large ...

Stereoscopic three-dimensional (3-D) services do not always prevail when compared with their two-dimensional (2-D) counterparts, though the former can provide more immersive experience with the help of binocular depth. Various specific 3-D artefacts might ...

We have searched for B-s(0) --> hh decays, where h stands for a charged or neutral kaon, or a charged pion. These results are based on a 23: 6 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector on the Y(5S) resonance at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(- ...

Our comprehension of human brain functions and their dynamics has been dramatically improved by recent developments in non-invasive imaging techniques. These methods can be divided into two different categories, according to the nature of the measured sign ...
