Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...

Chiral carbon-carbon (C-C) and carbon-heteroatom (C-X) bonds are pervasive and very essential in natural products, bioactive molecules, and functional materials, and their catalytic construction has emerged as one of the hottest research fields in syntheti ...

Chirality (C) is a fundamental property of objects, in terms of symmetry. It is extremely important to sense and distinguish chiral molecules in the fields of biochemistry, science, and medicine. Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy, obtained ...

We study the evolution of magnetic fields coupled with chiral fermion asymmetry in the framework of chiral magnetohydrodynamics with zero initial total chirality. The initial magnetic field has a turbulent spectrum peaking at a certain characteristic scale ...

An asymmetric 3-component reaction between EthynylBenziodoXoles (EBXs), 2,2,2-trifluorodiazoethane and nucleophiles catalyzed by a CuI-BOX (Bisoxazoline) catalyst is described. This protocol gives access to chiral trifluoromethylated propargyl ethers and a ...

An asymmetric synthesis of (+)-stephadiamine has been accomplished featuring (a) an enantioselective dearomatizative Michael addition to generate a quaternary stereocenter; (b) a domino sequence involving reductive generation of nitrone from γ-nitro ketone ...

Cyclopentadienyl (Cp) metal complexes and their chiral counterparts (CpX) have enabled the development of challenging C-H activation transformations. While major progresses were made in developing new chiral CpX complexes and exploring their reactivity, th ...

In drug discovery, the proportion of aliphatic carbons (C(sp(3))) and the presence of chiral carbons in organic molecules are positively correlated to their chance of clinical success. Although methods exist for the synthesis of chiral C(sp(3))-rich molecu ...

Chiral optical switches, which use light to control chirality in a reversible manner, offer unique properties and fascinating prospects in the areas of molecular switching and responsive systems, new photochromic materials and molecular data processing and ...

Chirality is a structural property of molecules lacking mirror symmetry that has strong implications in diverse fields, ranging from life sciences to materials science. Chirality-sensitive spectroscopic methods, such as circular dichroism, exhibit weak sig ...

In this thesis, we mainly utilize silver to construct the meta-atoms. Although suffering from easily oxidized, its excellent lossless property throughout the visible range makes it suitable for study. When preserved properly, silver-made metasurfaces can s ...

Deracemization of racemic chiral compounds is an attractive approach in asymmetric synthesis, but its development has been hindered by energetic and kinetic challenges. Here we describe a catalytic deracemization method for secondary benzylic alcohols whic ...

We investigate phase separation in a chiral fluid, made of spinning ferromagnetic colloids that interact both via hydrodynamic and dipolar forces and collectively organize into separated circulating clusters. We show that, at high spinning frequency, hydro ...

From a geometrical perspective, a chiral object does not have mirror planes or inversion symmetry. It exhibits the same physical properties as its mirror image (enantiomer), except for the chiroptical activity, which is often the opposite. Recent advanceme ...

Vector-chiral (VC) antiferromagnetism is a spiral-like ordering of spins which may allow ferroelectricity to occur due to loss of space inversion symmetry. In this Letter we report direct experimental observation of ferroelectricity in the VC phase of beta ...

1,2-Bis(2'-nitrophenoxy)-3-R-benzenes {R = H (1), CH3 (2) and OCH3 (3)} have been prepared from the S-N-Ar reaction between 1-fluoro-2-nitrobenzene and 3-R-catechol (aromatic diol), and are then reduced to the corresponding diamines 1,2-bis(2'-aminophenoxy ...

We report herein the first examples of a palladiumcatalyzed enantioselective Cacchi reaction for the synthesis of indoles bearing a chiral C2-aryl axis. In the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2 and (R,R)-QuinoxP* ligand, reaction of N-aryl(alkyl)s ...

The absence of centrosymmetry in chiral and polar crystal structures is the reason for many technical relevant physical properties like optical birefringence or ferroelectricity. Other chirality related properties that are actually intensively investigated ...

Twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) is a two-dimensional chiral material whose optical activity is remarkably strong for its atomic thickness. While the chiral optical properties of TBG are currently well understood, the optical activity of quantum dots (QDs) m ...
