This PhD thesis aims at testing one of the fundamental properties of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics: the lepton flavour universality (LFU), which states that

bosons are equally coupled to the three lepton generations. In this work, ...

The nu MSM an extension of the Standard Model by three relatively light singlet Majorana fermions N-1,N-2,N-3 allows for the generation of lepton asymmetry which is several orders of magnitude larger than the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe. The ...

This thesis presents a search for a beyond the Standard Model (SM) heavy neutral lepton (HNL), which does not interact via any of the SM interactions. This hypothetical particle has been proposed by multiple theories as an extension to the SM, and it could ...

This thesis presents a measurement of the neutral charm meson mixing parameters

The time-dependent CP asymmetries of B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-) and B-s(0) -> K+K- decays are measured using a data sample of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV ...

The measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair events with highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks decaying to a single lepton and jets is presented. The analysis is performed using protonproton collisions at root s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at t ...

The first search for ultra-rare K+ decays into the pi(+)e(+)e(-) e(+) e(-) final state is reported, using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017-2018. An upper limit of 1.4x10(-8) at 90% CL is obtained for the branching ratio of the K+ ...

This article reports the first measurement of prompt chi(c1) and chi(c2) charmonium production in nuclear collisions at Large Hadron Collider energies. The cross-section ratio sigma(chi(c2))/sigma(chi(c1)) is measured in pPb collisions at root s(NN) = 8.16 ...

Results are presented from a search for CP violation in top quark pair production, using proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The data used for this analysis consist of final states with two charged leptons collected by the CMS exp ...

Electric dipole moments are sensitive probes of new phases in the Higgs Yukawa couplings. We calculate the complete two-loop QCD anomalous dimension matrix for the mixing of CP-odd scalar and tensor operators and apply our results for a phenomenological st ...

This paper reports world averages of measurements of b-hadron, c-hadron, and tau-lepton properties obtained by the Heavy Flavour Averaging Group using results available through September 2018. In rare cases, significant results obtained several months late ...

New sets of parameter tunes for two of the colour reconnection models, quantum chromodynamics-inspired and gluon-move, implemented in the PYTHIA 8 event generator, are obtained based on the default CMS PYTHIA 8 underlying-event tune, CP5. Measurements sens ...

In this manuscript we consider the problem of kernel classification. While worst-case bounds on the decay rate of the prediction error with the number of samples are known for some classifiers, they often fail to accurately describe the learning curves of ...

The first full angular analysis of the B0 -> D-Ds+ decay is performed using 6 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Ds+-> Ds+gamma and D*- -> D0- vector meson decays ar ...

The current limitations of the standard model of elementary particle physics drive the search for phenomenons forbidden within that framework with the goal to unveil a more universal theory. This thesis presents the search for two lepton flavour violating ...

The Standard Model of particle physics provides predictions of many fundamental processes. One of them is the existence of charmless processes involving only baryons, namely charmless purely baryonic decays of baryons. Yet none of these decay modes has bee ...

This thesis presents a measurement of charm mixing and CP-violation parameters using D0 -> K0S pi+ pi- decays. These mixing parameters include the mass and decay-width differences of the mass eigenstates of the D0-D0bar system. A search for Charge-Parity v ...

First evidence of a structure in the J/psi Lambda invariant mass distribution is obtained from an amplitude analysis of Xi(-)(b) -> J/psi Lambda K- decays. The observed structure is consistent with being due to a charmonium pentaquark with strangeness with ...

Proton-proton interactions resulting in final states with two photons are studied in a search for the signature of flavor-changing neutral current interactions of top quarks (t) and Higgs bosons (H). The analysis is based on data collected at a center-of-m ...

We study the type-I seesaw model with three right-handed neutrinos and Majorana masses below the pion mass. In this mass range, the model parameter space is not only strongly constrained by the requirement to explain the light neutrino masses, but also by ...
