We present the experimental campaigns – namely, three per facility – carried out between 2018 and 2021 in the AKR–2 and CROCUS zero power reactors within the framework of the Horizon 2020 European project CORTEX. Their purpose was to produce high-quality a ...

Introduction: Cystic brain metastases (BMs) are often more challenging to treat than solid BMs. Stereotactic cyst aspiration for volume reduction followed by stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an alternative treatment modality that may benefit patients wit ...

Although classically Rapid-Eye Movement (REM) sleep was thought to generate desynchronized activity similar to wakefulness, it was found that some brain regions could express Slow Wave activity (SWA), a pattern which was normally typical of slow-wave sleep ...

Objective. The literature investigating the effects of alpha oscillations on corticospinal excitability is divergent. We believe inconsistency in the findings may arise, among others, from the electroencephalography (EEG) processing for brain-state determi ...

The transfer function is an important characteristic quantity of a nuclear reactor, since it contains the kinetic parameters. It expresses the response of a nuclear reactor to a disturbance of a certain frequency. If it is determined experimentally, it can ...

Type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients experience alterations in the Central Nervous System, leading to cognitive deficits. Cognitive deficits have been also observed in animal models of diabetes such as impaired sensory perception, as well as deficits in wor ...

How the neocortex modulates hindbrain and spinal circuits is of fundamental interest for understanding mo-tor control and adaptive behaviors. New work from Yang, Kanodia, and Arber demonstrates that there is an exquisite anatomical organization and functio ...

Perioptic meningiomas, defined as those that are less than 3 mm from the optic apparatus, are challenging to treat with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Tumor control must be weighed against the risk of radiation-induced optic neuropathy (RION), as both tu ...

Reduplicative paramnesia refers to the delusional belief that there are identical places in different locations. In this case-control study we investigated the clinical, phenomenological, neuropsychological and neuroanatomical data of eleven patients with ...

INTRODUCTION: The combined use of intraoperative MRI and awake surgery is a tailored microsurgical resection to respect functional neural networks (mainly the language and motor ones). Intraoperative MRI has been classically considered to increase the exte ...

This article examines the importance of integrating locomotion and cognitive information for achieving dynamic locomotion from a viewpoint combining biology and ecological psychology. We present a mammalian neuromusculoskeletal model from external sensory ...

Lack of awareness of cognitive impairment (i.e. anosognosia) could be a key factor for distinguishing between neuropsychological postCOVID-19 condition phenotypes. In this context, the 2-fold aim of the present study was to (i) establish the prevalence of ...

The acquisition and re-acquisition of motor skills is an important aspect of daily life and in the recovery after a stroke. Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is a technique that is used to improve motor learning and enhance motor recovery in stroke sur ...

Communication between cortical areas contributes importantly to sensory perception and cognition. On the millisecond time scale, information is signaled from one brain area to another by action potentials propagating across long-range axonal arborizations. ...

Enhanced behavioral interventions are gaining increasing interest as innovative treatment strategies for major depressive disorder (MDD). In this study protocol, we propose to examine the synergistic effects of a self-administered home-treatment, encompass ...

Background: Depression and low mood are leading contributors to disability worldwide. Research indicates that clinical depression may be associated with low creatine concentrations in the brain and low prefrontal grey matter volume. Because subclinical dep ...

Introduction Motor complication management is one of the main unmet needs in Parkinson's disease patients. Areas covered Among the most promising emerging approaches for handling motor complications in Parkinson's disease, adaptive deep brain stimulation s ...

The modular organization of the cortex refers to subsets of highly interconnected nodes, sharing specific cytoarchitectural and dynamical properties. These properties condition the level of excitability of local pools of neurons. In this study, we describe ...

A brief session of rightward prismatic adaptation (R-PA) has been shown to alleviate neglect symptoms in patients with right hemispheric damage, very likely by switching hemispheric dominance of the ventral attentional network (VAN) from the right to the l ...

Our brain constantly receives and integrates a flow of multisensory bodily inputs that are responsible for the way our body is represented and consciously experienced. However, in some pathological conditions, patients might experience altered perceptions ...
