Crystal phase engineering is an exciting pathway to enhance the properties of conventional semiconductors. Metastable SiGe presents a direct band gap well suited for optical devices whereas wurtzite (WZ) phosphide alloys enable efficient light emission in ...

The diffusion layer is a critical factor affecting the temporal response of electrochemical devices. In this article, we have investigated the effect of the relaxation of the diffusion layer during the potentiodynamic sensing of ferrocenemethanol (FcMeOH) ...

We study the pattern formation of a thin film flowing under an inclined planar substrate. The phenomenon is studied in the context of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability using the lubrication equation. Inspired by experimental observations, we numerically stud ...

We present the static and optical injection response of wafer-fused long-wavelength VCSELs with and without intracavity patterning. It is found that the extra optical cavity patterning increases the gain anisotropy between orthogonal polarization modes, in ...

Thin two-dimensional (2D) material absorbers have the potential to reduce volume-dependent thermal noise in infrared detectors. However, any reduction in noise must be balanced against lower absorption from the thin layer, which necessitates advanced optic ...

The invention concerns a process comprising the following steps: injecting, in an optical fiber, N time limited replica optical signals at distinct frequencies, each replica signal being temporally shifted relative to the other replica signals; then propag ...

Resonant sensors based on micro- and nano-electro mechanical systems (M/NEMS) are ubiquitous in many sensing applications due to their outstanding performance capabilities, which are directly proportional to the quality factor (Q) of the devices. We addres ...

Citalopram hydrobromide (CP) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor for the treatment of the depressive disorder. In this work, a novel label-free recognition method based on an extended gate field-effect transistor (EGFET) for selective determination ...

A large amount of experimental and theoretical works deals with the second harmonic generation from different plasmonic geometries. Since they often consider relatively long optical pulses, many of these studies are focused on the investigation of a quasi- ...

The demand for bendable sensors increases constantly in the challenging field of soft and micro-scale robotics. We present here, in more detail, the flexible, functional, insect-inspired curved artificial compound eye (CurvACE) that was previously introduc ...
