In this work, we use periodic density functional theory(periodic DFT) to rigorously assign vibrational spectra measured on nanorough wet-processed hydrogenated Si(111) surfaces. We compare Si(111)-(1x1) surfaces etched by dilute HF and NH4F, featuring two ...

Coupling vibrational ion spectroscopy with highresolution ion mobility separation offers a promising approach for detailed analysis of biomolecules in the gas phase. Improvements in the ion mobility technology have made it possible to separate isomers with ...

Plasmonic effects including near-field coupling, light scattering, guided mode through surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs), Forster resonant energy transfer (FRET), and thermoplasmonics are extensively used for harnessing inexhaustible solar energy for photo ...

Reflection–absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) is widely used to identify molecular adsorbates on metals during surface chemical reactions, but the interpretation of RAIRS data can be difficult with experiment alone. Here, we reveal from first-princip ...

In this work, we revisit the dissociative sticking of methane on Pt(110)-(2×1) using quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) calculations and supersonic molecular beam (SMB) experiments. Experimentally, we apply the King and Wells method and the reflection absorp ...

Supported Pd-based catalysts used in heterogeneously catalyzed liquid phase processes often undergo an activation step through reduction of the oxide phase or of the oxidic passivation layer prior to reaction. An oxidized Pd/Al2O3 catalyst was reduced by u ...

Two-dimensional Fourier transform spectroscopy is a promising technique to study ultrafast molecular dynamics. Similar to transient absorption spectroscopy, a more complete picture of the dynamics requires broadband laser pulses to observe transient change ...

The main objective of this PhD thesis is to link the atomic scale structure to the catalytic properties of self-assembled nanostructures. The growth and characterization of these nanostructures was carried out in an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) chamber initiall ...

The urgency of climate change demands the simultaneous removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the transition to renewable energy sources. This aim is realizable through electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR), which is a promising ro ...

The last decades have been punctuated by the development of revolutionary analytical technologies that have enabled the analysis of biomolecular structures and unraveled the roles they play in biological systems. However, certain classes of biomolecules re ...
