To constrain cosmological models beyond ACDM, the development of the Euclid analysis pipeline requires simulations that capture the non-linear phenomenology of such models. We present an overview of numerical methods and N-body simulation codes developed t ...

Context. The cosmological surveys that are planned for the current decade will provide us with unparalleled observations of the distribution of galaxies on cosmic scales, by means of which we can probe the underlying large-scale structure (LSS) of the Univ ...

We present an analysis of the UV continuum slope, β, using a sample of 726 galaxies with z > 4, selected from a mixture of JWST ERS, GTO, and GO observational programs. We considered only spectroscopic data obtained with the low-resolution (R ∼ 30−300) PRI ...

We introduce the Bias-free Extragalactic Analysis for Cosmic Origins with NIRCam (BEACON) survey, a JWST Cycle 2 program allocated up to 600 pure-parallel hours of observations. BEACON explores high-latitude areas of the sky with JWST/NIRCam over ∼100 inde ...

The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) was designed to conduct a survey covering 14,000 deg(2) over 5 yr to constrain the cosmic expansion history through precise measurements of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO). The scientific program for DESI ...

This paper investigates the fundamental regression task of learning k neurons (a.k.a. teachers) from Gaussian input, using two-layer ReLU neural networks with width m (a.k.a. students) and m, k = O(1), trained via gradient descent under proper initializati ...

We report the identification of 64 new candidates of compact galaxies, potentially hosting faint quasars with bolometric luminosities of L-bol = 10(43)-10(46) erg s(-1), residing in the reionization epoch within the redshift range of 6 less than or similar ...

Contemporary AI faces important limitations that remain unresolved despite significant successes. Chief among these are the inability to acquire new knowledge without destroying old, the incomprehensible and nonengineerable nature of internal representatio ...

Cluster-scale strong lensing is a powerful tool for exploring the properties of dark matter and constraining cosmological models. However, due to the complex parameter space, pixelized strong lens modelling in galaxy clusters is computationally expensive, ...

We present the DESI 2024 galaxy and quasar baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) measurements using over 5.7 million unique galaxy and quasar redshifts in the range 0.1 < z < 2.1. Divided by tracer type, we utilize 300,017 galaxies from the magnitude-limited ...

Strong gravitational lenses provide unique laboratories for cosmological and astrophysical investigations, but they must first be discovered - a task that can be met with significant contamination by other astrophysical objects and asterisms. Here we revie ...

This paper presents the specification, design, and development of the Visible Camera (VIS) on the European Space Agency’s Euclid mission. VIS is a large optical-band imager with a field of view of 0.54 deg2 sampled at 000 . 1 with an array of 609 Megapixel ...

Context. The Euclid mission of the European Space Agency will perform a survey of weak lensing cosmic shear and galaxy clustering in order to constrain cosmological models and fundamental physics. Aims. We expand and adjust the mock Euclid likelihoods of t ...

Deep neural networks (DNNs) are receiving increasing attention in wind power forecasting due to their ability to effectively capture complex patterns in wind data. However, their forecast errors are severely limited by the local optimal weight issue in opt ...

We report the discovery of 15 exceptionally luminous 10 less than or similar to z less than or similar to 14 candidate galaxies discovered in the first 0.28 deg(2) of JWST/NIRCam imaging from the COSMOS-Web survey. These sources span rest-frame UV magnitud ...

Now is an exciting time for the domain of Earth observation (EO), with a multitude of diverse sensors looking at the planet from satellites, airplanes or drones. The volume of imagery acquired is massive, and hold great potential for a variety of applicati ...

As one of the major threats to women's health worldwide, breast cancer requires early diagnosis and accurate classification, since they are key to optimizing therapeutic interventions and ensuring precise prognosis. Recently, deep learning has demonstrated ...

Terrestrial particle accelerators collide charged particles, then watch the trajectory of outgoing debris - but they cannot manipulate dark matter. Fortunately, dark matter is the main component of galaxy clusters, which are continuously pulled together by ...

Deploying energy-efficient deep neural networks on energy-constrained edge devices is an important research topic in both machine learning and circuit design communities. Both artificial neural networks (ANNs) and spiking neural networks (SNNs) have been p ...

We study a new population of extremely red objects (EROs) recently discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) based on their NIRCam colors F277W - F444W > 1.5 mag. We find 37 EROs in the Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science Survey (CEERS) field ...
