This article presents bounds on radiation efficiency and gain for microstrip patch antennas, demonstrating close alignment with the performance of classic antenna designs. These bounds serve as effective benchmarks for assessing antenna performance and eva ...

FDTD/FEM simulations, strengthened by machine learning, achieve 95.44% optical absorption efficiency in TiO 2 /TiN plasmonic nanocavities for solar energy harvesting. ...

Microsupercapacitors (MSCs) are attractive energy devices for applications in IoT, wireless sensors, and other microelectronic systems due to their small footprints. In this work, the dimensional scaling of fully-integrated additively-fabricated MSCs is sy ...

A method for optimizing at least one of a geometry, an implantation procedure, and/or stimulation protocol of one or more electrodes for an electrical stimulation of a target structure in a nervous system of a living being by a computer device, the method ...

Thanks to the continuous improvement of crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells, largely dominating the market, photovoltaic electricity is nowadays the cheapest source of energy on the market. Yet, solar energy is far from being completely harvested, as t ...

We present GeoNeRF, a generalizable photorealistic novel view synthesis method based on neural radiance fields. Our approach consists of two main stages: a geometry reasoner and a renderer. To render a novel view, the geometry reasoner first constructs cas ...

We describe the first gradient methods on Riemannian manifolds to achieve accelerated rates in the non-convex case. Under Lipschitz assumptions on the Riemannian gradient and Hessian of the cost function, these methods find approximate first-order critical ...

In the context of a rapid and massive deployment or renewable energy and in particular solar photovoltaic, it is necessary to develop methods and tools to guide this deployment. To this end, this work proposes a multicriteria approach for evaluating the su ...

Photo-electrochemical production of solar fuels from carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight is an appealing approach. Nevertheless, it remains challenging to scale despite encouraging demonstrations at low power input. Higher current densities require notable ...

Describing networks geometrically through low-dimensional latent metric spaces has helped design efficient learning algorithms, unveil network symmetries and study dynamical network processes. However, latent space embeddings are limited to specific classe ...

The design of envelopes with complex geometries often leads to construction challenges. To overcome these difficulties, resorting to discrete differential geometry proved successful by establishing close links between mesh properties and the existence of g ...

In this Letter, we present the photonic nanojet as a phenomenon in a structured light generator system that is implemented to modify the source focal spot size and emission angle. The optical system comprises a microlens array that is illuminated by a focu ...

Since myocardial fibers drive the electric signal propagation throughout the myocardium, accurately modeling their arrangement is essential for simulating heart electrophysiology (EP). Rule-Based-Methods (RBMs) represent a commonly used strategy to include ...

Self-proclaimed Galileo’s ultimo discepolo, Vincenzio Viviani (1622-1703) strove all his life to become a renowned mathematician. Extolling the supposed purity of Euclid’s geometry, he sought to recover the lost knowledge of the Ancients, and fashioned him ...

In many problems such as phase retrieval, molecular biology, source localization, and sensor array calibration, one can measure vector differences between pairs of points and attempt to recover the position of these points; this class of problems is called ...

In this thesis we consider inverse problems involving multiscale elliptic partial differential equations. The name multiscale indicates that these models are characterized by the presence of parameters which vary on different spatial scales (macroscopic, m ...

3D objects, modeled using Computer Aided Geometric Design (CAGD) tools, are traditionally represented using a boundary representation (B-rep), and typically use spline functions to parameterize these boundary surfaces. However, recent development in physic ...

The present paper deals with the deposition of Cu-Co-Mn oxides thin film by magnetron sputtering to produce a black selective coating for solar Parabolic Trough Collector (PTC) systems. The effect of temperature was studied between the nominal temperature ...

Urban areas are facing a growing deployment of solar photovoltaic and thermal tech-nologies on building envelopes, both on roofs and on façades, essential for the realization of the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050. This process often occurs regardless of the de ...

Solar cooker with a core comprising at least one insulating wall and at least one window having a glazing on which is deposited a low-e coating, characterized by the fact that said window(s) is/are oriented along several directions ...
