We extend the group-theoretic notion of conditional flatness for a localization functor to any pointed category, and investigate it in the context of homological categories and of semi-abelian categories. In the presence of functorial fiberwise localizatio ...

A correspondence functor is a functor from the category of finite sets and correspondences to the category of k-modules, where k is a commutative ring. By means of a suitably defined duality, new correspondence functors are constructed, having remarkable p ...

This paper presents an investigation on the possibility of arecanut palm leaf as a biomaterial substrate for various microwave devices such as transmission lines, antenna, filter and a radio frequency identification device (RFID). The dielectric properties ...

Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) using camera-based imaging has shown excellent potential recently in vital signs monitoring due to its contactless nature. However, the optimum filter selection for pre-processing rPPG data in signal conditioning is still ...

In this thesis, we study interactions between algebraic and coalgebraic structures in infinity-categories (more precisely, in the quasicategorical model of (infinity, 1)-categories). We define a notion of a Hopf algebra H in an E-2-monoidal infinity-catego ...

Voice activity detection (VAD) is an important pre-processing step for speech technology applications. The task consists of deriving segment boundaries of audio signals which contain voicing information. In recent years, it has been shown that voice source ...

This paper demonstrates the capability of locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs) for creating compact metallic waveguide E- and H-bends, which are simultaneously working as bandpass filters. For creating these bent meta-filters, we use composite pin-pipe wa ...

Vehicle trajectory datasets collected in urban traffic environments with drones pose unique chal- lenges in terms of denoising due to extensive visual restrictions, perspective distortions and human- induced errors. This article taps into the unexplored po ...

In this thesis, we study the homotopical relations of 2-categories, double categories, and their infinity-analogues. For this, we construct homotopy theories for the objects of interest, and show that there are homotopically full embeddings of 2-categories ...

We prove that four different ways of defining Cartesian fibrations and the Cartesian model structure are all Quillen equivalent: 1.On marked simplicial sets (due to Lurie [31]), 2.On bisimplicial spaces (due to deBrito [12]), 3.On bisimplicial sets, 4.On m ...

This paper proposes a novel technique for the design of miniaturized Ka-band filters based on locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs), which are fabricated monolithically using lost wax casting. We implement ultra-small metamaterial filters by exploiting a n ...

This paper presents the use of a novel type of resonators made of a thin membrane of Y-cut Lithium Niobate that has an array of interdigitated electrodes on the top, and a floating metal on the bottom. Each electrode gives rise to a quasi-independent reson ...

To achieve conservation objectives for threatened and endangered species, managers must choose among potential recovery actions based on their efficacy. Yet, a lack of standardization in defining how conservation actions support recovery objectives can imp ...

Parkinson's disease produces several motor symptoms, including different speech impairments that are known as hypokinetic dysarthria. Symptoms associated to dysarthria affect different dimensions of speech such as phonation, articulation, prosody, and inte ...

This paper presents a video-based camera tracker that combines marker-based and feature point-based cues in a particle filter framework. The framework relies on their complementary performances. Marker-based trackers can robustly recover camera position an ...

This paper presents an efficient integral-equation (IE) technique for analysis of thick irises inside multilayered rectangular waveguides. The IEs remain the same as in the case of zero-thickness iris and the thickness is accounted for only as a correction ...

We study the problem of A/D conversion and error-rate dependence of a class of non-bandlimited signals which have a finite rate of innovation, particularly, a continuous periodic stream of Diracs, characterized by a finite set of time positions and weights ...

The growing demand for high levels of recombinant proteins of medical and pharmaceutical interest stimulates the development of cell bioprocess technology. Spin-filter technology is employed in order to reach high levels of such compounds. The aim of this ...

This thesis presents a new tomographic imaging method using multiple wavelengths in digital holographic microscopy. It is based on the addition of several reconstructed wavefronts measured at different wavelengths. The resulting diffraction tomographic vis ...

Hill et al. reported for the first time in 1978 the formation of refractive-index gratings in germanium doped silica fibers exposed to UV laser radiation. Since then many studies have been performed on fiber gratings and a widespread range of applications ...
