A new conducting polymer poly (3, 4-phenylenedioxythiophene) is synthesized by the electrochemical polymerization technique with different solvents. We find that solvents used in electrochemical polymerization play important roles for the catalytic activit ...

A method of producing a cryogel-based multicompartment 3D scaffold is herein disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a first frozen polymeric layer on a refrigerated support kept at subzero temperature; b) providing subsequent polymeric ...

At low pH, underwater adherence between poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) hydrogels and poly(acrylic acid) brushes is due to the formation of multiple hydrogen bonds. The effect of the key parameters controlling the formation of these interactions (contact time ...

Trifluoromethylative difunctionalization and hydrofunctionalization of unactivated alkenes have been developed into powerful synthetic methodologies. On the other hand, methylative difunctionalization of olefins remains an unexplored research field. We rep ...

Chain-end-labeled polymers are interesting for a range of applications. In polymer nanomedicine, chain-end-labeled polymers are useful to study and help understand cellular internalization and intracellular trafficking processes. The recent advent of fluor ...

Three quarters of the thesis will be devoted to the discussion of non equilibrium systems. We show how certain biological systems cannot be described by standard thermodynamics. The reason is that the energy consumption due to the hydrolysis of ATP imposes ...

Nanocomposites with a high and uniform loading of magnetic nanoparticles are very desirable for various applications. In this study, a simple and scalable route for preparing nanocomposites with a high and uniform loading of magnetic nanoparticles is prese ...

The generation of polymer brushes by surface-initiated controlled radical polymerization (SI-CRP) techniques has become a powerful approach to tailor the chemical and physical properties of interfaces and has given rise to great advances in surface and int ...

The use of polymers has revolutionized the field of drug delivery in the past two decades. Properties such as polymer size, charge, hydrophilicity, or branching have all been shown to play an important role in the cellular internalization of polymeric syst ...

With proper control over copolymer design and solvation conditions, self-assembled materials display impressive morphological variety that encompasses nanoscale colloids as well as bulk three-dimensional architectures. Here we take advantage of both hydrop ...
