This paper proposes a novel method to improve georeferencing of airborne laser scanning by improved trajectory estimation using Vehicle Dynamic Model. In Vehicle Dynamic Model (VDM), the relationship between the dynamics of the platform and control inputs ...

With the capabilities such as single-photon detection, time stamping and high-speed acquisition, time-resolved imaging based on single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detectors has found significant applications across diverse domains, including but not limi ...

In airborne laser scanning a high-frequency trajectory solution is typically determined from inertial sensors and employed to directly geo-reference the acquired laser points. When low-cost MEMS inertial sensors are used, such as in lightweight unmanned ae ...

Representing and reconstructing 3D deformable shapes are two tightly linked problems that have long been studied within the computer vision field. Deformable shapes are truly ubiquitous in the real world, whether be it specific object classes such as human ...

Photogrammetry and Laser-Scanning are usually considered as complementary. Integration of these two observation methods has the potential to blend their individual advantages. The resulting benefit is likely to be higher in drone airborne mapping, which pa ...

The thesis presented hereby proposes as a general objective the estimation of forest inventory parameters (e.g. trunk location, height, basal area, crown area, species, etc..) from the combination of Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) and Hyperspectal Imaging ( ...

Airborne Laser Scanning is a well-known remote sensing technology, which provides a dense and highly accurate, yet unorganized point cloud of earth surface. During the last decade, extracting information from the data generated by airborne LiDAR systems ha ...

Single or a limited number of point observations, such as from index stations, are commonly assumed to be representative for the snow cover of larger areas in many applications. This study presents a systematic investigation of the relationship between poi ...

Snow deposition and redistribution are major drivers of snow cover dynamics in mountainous terrain and contribute to the mass balance of alpine glaciers. The quantitative understanding of inhomogeneous snow distribution in mountains has recently benefited ...

This paper presents the derivation of surface-related quality indicators describing the confidence-metrics of the final geo-products de- rived from airborne laser scanning (ALS). We first discuss the number of factors influencing the qual- ity of the digit ...

This paper presents an affordable, fully automated and accurate mapping solutions based on ultra-light UAV imagery. Several datasets are analysed and their accuracy is estimated. We show that the accuracy highly depends on the ground resolution (flying hei ...

This paper presents a methodology for the precise registering of airborne laser data directly in flight with an accuracy that is sufficient for the majority of derived products, such as digital terrain models. We first present the strategy that integrates ...

One of the main problems of today's Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) systems is the lack of reliable data QA/QC (Quality Assurance/ Quality Control) within or shortly after the airborne survey campaign. This thesis presents the development of methods to perfo ...

This paper presents a complete portable laser-based projection system using two one-dimensional magnetic actuated MEMS linear scanning micro-mirrors. Dedicated high speed electronics was developed to drive the MEMS, detect the mirror scanning position at a ...

One of the main problems of today's ALS is the lack of reliable data quality assessment within or shortly after the airborne survey campaign. The paper presents an in- flight quality monitoring tool that allows assessing the quality of the recorded data "o ...

This paper focuses on practical aspects when performing boresight calibration in airborne laser scanning using rigorous methodology implemented in LIBOR software. LIBOR technique, introduced by (Skaloud and Lichti, 2006), is based on expressing the boresig ...

Individual points produced by airborne laser scanning (ALS) may have large variation in their accuracy, a fact that is often omitted in the subsequent derivation of digital terrain models. The accuracy of a single point is governed by three main factors: F ...

The HELIMAP is a portable mapping system for quick helicopter deployment. It integrates high accuracy navigation sensors (GPS/INS) with Airborne Laser Scanner (ALS) and high-resolution digital (CCD) camera. This paper presents the system hardware and softw ...

This paper presents the extension and experimental validation of the widely used EKF1-based SLAM2 algorithm to 3D space. It uses planar features extracted probabilistically from dense three-dimensional point clouds generated by a rotating 2D laser scanner. ...

The common configuration for deflecting laser beams in two dimensions is based on two single-axis galvanometric scanners placed perpendicular to each other. Over recent years, these fast scanners have proved to be both very reliable and very accurate. They ...
