This paper presents the design and the characterization of a front-end circuit, designed in 28 nm CMOS, for real-time dosimetry in radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy. The front-end circuit is optimized for sensors made of hydrogenated amorphous si ...

Microcomputed tomography (mu CT) is a nondestructive X-ray imaging method used in plant physiology to visualize in situ plant tissues that enables assessments of embolized xylem vessels. Whereas evidence for X-ray-induced cellular damage has been reported, ...

IntroductionPatients undergoing cancer treatment by radiation therapy commonly develop Candida albicans infections (candidiasis). Such infections are generally treated by antifungals that unfortunately also induce numerous secondary effects in the patient. ...

Background Neuroinflammation may contribute to psychiatric symptoms in older people, in particular in the context of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We sought to identify systemic and central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory alterations associated with neuropsy ...

Interatomic processes play a crucial role in weakly bound complexes exposed to ionizing radiation; therefore, gaining a thorough understanding of their efficiency is of fundamental importance. Here, we directly measure the timescale of interatomic Coulombi ...

Purpose For determining small-field profile and output factor during stereotactic radiotherapy quality assurance (QA) procedures, we propose a novel system based on the scintillating fiber (SciFi) detector with output image acquisition and processing to al ...

OBJECTIVE: How variations of treatment time affect the safety and efficacy of Gamma Knife (GK) radiosurgery is a matter of considerable debate. With the relative simplicity of treatment planning for trigeminal neuralgia (TN), this question has been address ...

The response of Y2O3 nanoprecipitates in a 1-mu m YBa2Cu3O7-x layer from a superconducting wire Ag/YBCO/buffer metal oxides/Hastelloy to 107 MeV Kr and 167 MeV Xe ion irradiation was investigated using a combination of transmission electron microscopy, dif ...

We present a simple and highly versatile protocol for polymer ablation: hard x-ray irradiation makes it possible to rapidly depolymerize hyaluronan hydrogels and fabricate three-dimensional network of microchannels. Photodynamic and photochemical analyses ...

Radiation damage in macromolecular crystals is not suppressed even at 90 K. This is particularly true for covalent bonds involving an anomalous scatterer (such as bromine) at the `peak wavelength'. It is shown that a series of absorption spectra recorded o ...

The distributed optical-fibre sensors based on the properties of Brillouin scattering is the central object of this thesis. In the past decade, optical fibres have gained a large interest as sensors: attractive solutions based on the non-linear stimulated ...
