Based on 7.33 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies from 4.128 to 4.226 GeV, a search for the Majorana neutrino nu(m) is conducted in the lepton-number-violating decay ...

This PhD thesis presents a search for Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs) using data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). HNLs are hypothetical new particles proposed in several theoretical extensions of the Standard Model (SM) ...

Based on a data sample of (10087 ± 44) × 10 6 J / ψ events taken with the BESIII detector, we search for the flavor-changing neutral current charmonium decay J / ψ → D 0 μ + μ − + c.c. . No significant signal above the background is observed, and the upper ...

A large variety of new physics models suggest that the rates for lepton flavour violating

b

-hadron decays may be much higher than predicted in the Standard Model, which leads to a high interest in the search for such decays. This thesis presents the se ...

The strong-phase differences between

{D}^0\to {K}_{S(L)}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}

and

{\overline{D}}^0\to {K}_{S(L)}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}

decays are one of the most important inputs in measuring the CP violating angle γ via B − → DK − decays. They also p ...

Results are presented for a test of the compositeness of the heaviest charged lepton, τ, using data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the CERN LHC. The data were collected in 2016–2018 and c ...

The first search for scalar leptoquarks produced in z-lepton-quark collisions is presented. It is based on a set of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated l ...

The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics represents our most fundamental knowledge of elementary particles and their interactions. One of the cardinal properties of the SM which has been thoroughly studied during the past years is the so-called Lepton F ...

Using (Formula presented) (Formula presented) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we have observed the decay (Formula presented) for the first time with a statistical significance of (Formula presented). Its branchin ...

Based on (2712.4 ± 14.3) × 106ψ(3686) events collected at the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we present the first observation of the decay ψ3686→K−Λ1520Ξ¯+ + c.c. The product branching fraction Bψ3686→K−Λ1520Ξ¯++c.c.×BΛ1520→pK− is measur ...

This thesis links two realms of particle accelerator dynamics and precision particle physics. The achievement of precise luminosity measurement at hadron colliders is enabled with dedicated luminometers. For the Run 3 period, the luminometer upgrade was ...

Nuclear medium effects on (Formula presented) meson production are studied using the binary-collision scaled cross section ratio between events of different charged-particle multiplicities from proton-lead collisions. Data, collected by the CMS experiment ...

A search for dark matter in events with a displaced nonresonant muon pair and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb-1 of protonproton (pp) collision data at a center -of -mass energy of ...

The polarization of tau leptons is measured using leptonic and hadronic tau lepton decays in Z -> tau(+)tau(-) events in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV recorded by CMS at the CERN LHC with an integrated luminosity of 36.3 fb(-1). The measured ...

There is a growing interest in the development of reliable analytical methods for characterizing tire and road wear particles (TRWP). The current research extends the use of single particle analysis techniques to various experimental biota samples. TRWP an ...

Two -particle Bose-Einstein momentum correlation functions are studied for charged-hadron pairs in lead -lead collisions at a center -of -mass energy per nucleon pair of .'/sNN = 5.02 TeV. The data sample, containing 4.27 x 109 minimum bias events correspo ...

The misfolding of proteins from native monomers into β-sheet-rich fibrils via oligomers is a key hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). Identifying and screening drugs that inhibit protein aggregation for early disease intervention remains challeng ...

At the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), absolute luminosity calibrations obtained by the van der Meer (vdM) method are affected by the mutual electromagnetic interaction of the two beams. The colliding bunches experience relative orbit shifts, as well as optic ...

Two-level systems (TLSs) are the basic units of quantum computers but face a trade-off between operation speed and coherence due to shared coupling paths. Here, we investigate a TLS given by a singlet-triplet (ST+) transition. We identify a magnetic-field ...

The azimuthal anisotropy of gamma(1S) mesons in high-multiplicity proton-lead collisions is studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 8.16 TeV. The gamma(1S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon ...
