Thermal scene reconstruction holds great potential for various applications, such as building energy analysis and non-destructive infrastructure testing. However, existing methods rely on dense scene measurements and use RGB images for 3D reconstruction, i ...

Given the importance of aerosols and clouds and their interactions in the climate system, it is imperative that the global Earth system models accurately represent processes associated with them. This is an important prerequisite if we are to narrow the un ...

Given the low-ionization fraction of molecular clouds, ambipolar diffusion is thought to be an integral process in star formation. However, chemical and radiative-transfer effects, observational challenges, and the fact that the ion-neutral drift velocity ...

The pursuit of high-speed and on-chip optical communication systems has promoted extensive exploration of all-optical control of light-matter interactions via nonlinear optical processes. Here, we have numerically investigated the ultrafast dynamic switchi ...

Organic functional materials are indispensable components for the last generation of light-energy conversion devices. Photo- and electroactive small organic molecules constitute thin active (emitting, transporting, blocking, injecting etc.) layers of organ ...

Transparent conductive materials (TCMs) with high p-type conductivity and broadband transparency have remained elusive for years. Despite decades of research, no p-type material has yet been found to match the performance of n-type TCMs. If developed, the ...

A new generation of solar collectors is based on thermochromic thin film technology, where the remarkable optical changes of vanadium dioxide, through its reversible semiconductor-to-metal phase transition, are exploited. This study reports on the infrared ...

Radiative heat transfer is analyzed in participating media consisting of long cylindrical fibers with a diameter in the limit of geometrical optics. The absorption and scattering coefficients and the scattering phase function of the medium are determined b ...

The extension of the light absorption of photovoltaics into the near-infrared region is important to increase the energy conversion efficiency. Although the progress of the lead halide perovskite solar cells is remarkable, and high conversion efficiency of ...

Graphene-based SU8 nanocomposite is developed as a new conductive polymer, which benefits from remarkable electrical conductivity of graphene, along with photo-pattern-ability and transparency of SU8. Well defined structures with minimal resolution of 10 m ...

Photopolymerized hydrogels are commonly used for a broad range of biomedical applications. As long as the polymer volume is accessible, gels can easily be hardened using light illumination. However, in clinics, especially for minimally invasive surgery, it ...

The front transparent conductive oxide layer is a source of significant optical and electrical losses in silicon heterojunction solar cells because of the trade-off between free-carrier absorption and sheet resistance. We demonstrate that hydrogen-doped in ...

A method to achieve photoinduced tuning of PhC nanocavity modes is discussed and implemented. It is based on light induced oxidation in air atmosphere with very low thermal budget which produces a local reduction of the GaAs membrane effective thickness an ...

Standard digital cameras are sensitive to radiation in the near-infrared domain, but this additional cue is in general discarded. In this paper, we consider the scene categorisation problem in the context of images where both standard visible RGB channels ...

Electronic devices based on organic semiconductors, such as field-effect transistors (OTFTs) and organic diodes have attracted significant interest as possible inexpensive and flexible alternatives to inorganic devices. Despite considerable improvement in ...
