Full-area passivating contacts based on SiOx/poly-Si stacks are key for the new generation of industrial silicon solar cells substituting the passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) technology. Demonstrating a potential efficiency increase of 1 to 2% compa ...

The construction industry has recently increased the adoption of additive manufacturing (AM, also known as 3D-printing) technologies. This review paper presents the state of the art of ground-based AM systems in construction, focusing comprehensively on de ...

Thanks to the continuous improvement of crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells, largely dominating the market, photovoltaic electricity is nowadays the cheapest source of energy on the market. Yet, solar energy is far from being completely harvested, as t ...

The instability of rear electrodes undermines the long-term operational durability of efficient perovskite solar cells. Here, a composite electrode of copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloy stabilized by in situ grown bifacial graphene is designed. The alloying makes ...

Vapor-based processes are particularly promising to deposit the perovskite thin film absorber of solar cells. These deposition methods are up-scalable, involve a controlled solvent-free environment, have the ability to conformally coat rough substrates, in ...

The regulation of discharge and the retention of sediments in reservoirs disturb the natural water dynamics in residual flow stretches below reservoirs. However, a dynamic river morphology as well as near-natural hydrological hydrographs are fundamental ...

Atomically thin (2D) nanoporous membranes are an excellent platform for a broad scope of academic research. Their thickness and intrinsic ion selectivity (demonstrated for example in molybdenum disulfide-MoS2) make them particularly attractive for single-m ...

The electrodeposition (ED) of stainless steel (SS) -like FeCrNi alloys for miniaturised devices is appealing for bio-medicine as it would allow combining excellent material properties (e.g. corrosion resistance, hardness, bio-compatibility) at low-cost. Ho ...

A dielectric multilayer platform was investigated as a foundation for two-dimensional optics. In this paper, we present, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental demonstration of absorption of Bloch surface waves in the presence of graphene lay ...

Perovskite solar cells have become strong contenders in the arena of photovoltaics due to the stunning rise in their efficiency from 3 % to over 20 % in just seven years. In this time, numerous device architectures and thin film deposition methods have bee ...

The tandem heterojunction photoelectric cell has been fabricated on the basis of organic-inorganic hybrid of AlPc-H2Pc (aluminium phthalocyanine-metal free phthalocyanine) and n-Si using pressing technique along with vapor deposition. Initially, the AlPc-H ...

Zn1-xCoxO (0 < x < 0.146) conductive thin films have been deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering of metallic Zn and Co targets at high pressure and temperature. The structural properties have been investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray ...

Single-ion magnets (SIMs) are mononuclear molecular complexes exhibiting slow relaxation of magnetization. They are currently attracting a lot of interest because of potential applications in spintronics and quantum information processing. However, exploit ...

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) is considered one of the most successful approaches to personalized medicine. However, the accuracy requirements on the quantification of drug concentration and the challenges in the dose adjustment limit the application o ...

To further increase the efficiency of multijunction thin-film silicon (TF-Si) solar cells, it is crucial for the front electrode to have a good transparency and conduction, to provide efficient light trapping for each subcell, and to ensure a suitable morp ...

The effect of the presence of unreacted PbI2 on the perovskite solar cells efficiency is reported. N,N-Dimethylformamide vapor treatment is introduced to study the influence of complete conversion to a power conversion efficiency of the device. It is disco ...

Thin-film silicon solar cells are one possible answer to the increasing energy demand of today. Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) plays a crucial role therein - as absorber layers, but also as doped layers to build p-i -n junctions. This thesis is de ...

This thesis investigates the link between the plasma deposition conditions and microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) material quality for thin-film silicon photovoltaic applications. The role of interfaces and the μc-Si:H material quality on the device perfor ...

Hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) is widely recognized as a promising candidate for the production of solar fuels via water splitting, but its intrinsic optoelectronic properties have limited its performance to date. In particular, the large electrochemical overpoten ...
