The constant urge to construct new molecules in an economical and sustainable fashion led to the development of numerous metal-catalyzed transformations. Organocatalysts consisting of abundant and more sustainable elements offer an elegant solution to over ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have become the representatives of next generation of photovoltaics; nevertheless, their stability is insufficient for large scale deployment, particularly the reverse bias stability. Here, we propose a transparent conducting ...

Ethynylbenziodoxolones (EBXs) are commonly encountered reagents for the electrophilic alkynylation of nucleophiles. Herein, we report a one-pot, two-step process for EBX generation and their direct application in substrate functionalization. Our approach e ...

Lithium represents the main drug for the treatment of Bipolar Disorder (BD) as it acts as a mood stabilizer. However, because of its narrow therapeutic window, psychiatric patients are obliged to frequent tests in hospital to control their lithium blood co ...

We report an Umpolung strategy of enol ethers to generate oxy-allyl cation equivalents based on the use of hypervalent iodine reagents. Under mild basic conditions, the addition of nucleophiles to aryloxy-substituted vinylbenziodoxolone (VBX) reagents, eas ...

In the Ca1-xLaxFeAs2 (1 1 2) family of pnictide superconductors, we have investigated a highly overdoped composition (x = 0.56), prepared by a high-pressure, high-temperature synthesis. Magnetic measurements show an antiferromagnetic transition at T-N = 12 ...

The thesis describes a simple approach for N-formylation of amines with CO2 and hydrosilane reducing agents, the use of organic salts as N-formylation catalysts, their physical properties required for high catalytic activity and their role in the catalytic ...

The accurate and reproducible large-scale production of catalyst layers containing low-cost, abundant electrocatalysts gains in importance. Herein, pivotal factors are discussed that need to be considered when a combined inkjet printing and photonic curing ...

The effect of an Al2O3 interlayer on the thermal conductance of metal (Al)/non-metal (diamond and silicon) interfaces is investigated using Time Domain ThermoReflectance (TDTR). Interlayers between 1.7 and 20nm are deposited on oxygen-terminated diamond an ...

We report on low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy measurements on NC-Ph-3-CN molecules adsorbed at 300 K on a Cu(111) surface. Upon cooling, the molecules form chain and honeycomb structures, incorporating Cu adatoms supplied by t ...

2-, 3- and 4-substituted fluorobenzenes and 5-substituted 1,3-difluorobenzenes were metalated with sec-butyllithium (LIS) and with lithium 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide (LiTMP) under irreversible conditions in order to determine the rates of reaction relat ...

The oxygen reduction reaction by decamethylferrocene (DMFc), triggered by hydrophilic metallic cations behaving as Lewis acids towards water molecules in a homogeneous organic phase reaction, was investigated using cyclic voltammetry at the water|1,2-dichl ...

This thesis is divided in seven main chapters including an introduction about the state of the art in the field, four main chapters describing the main part of the work, a short insight on the implications of the presented results for other research projec ...

Carbon-carbon bond forming reactions are among the most important and useful methods for organic synthesis. During the last years, significant progress has been made in this field. Whereas many catalysts were developed for the coupling of aryl, alkenyl, an ...

The reactivity of five di-n-butyltin(IV) complexes, n-Bu2Sn(OR)(2) (1), n-Bu2SnO (3), n-Bu2Sn(OR)O (4), (n-Bu2SnO)(2)(CO2) (6) and (n-Bu2SnO)(6)(n-Bu2SnOR)(2)(CO3) (7) (R = CH3), with CO2, suggested as possible catalyst precursors and key-interme ...

Simple but powerful chemosensors were developed by taking advantage of self-assembly processes. First, we will describe a turn-on fluorescent sensor for the pharmacologically important lithium ion. The sensor can be used in purely aqueous solution, and it ...

This review highlights the synthesis of nitrogen-containing natural products via aza-annulation. Strategic, tactical, and methodological perspectives are discussed, including recent developments such as metal- or organocatalyzed reactions, oxidative or red ...

The main objectives of this work are 2-fold : The development of a novel type of composite material based on carbon nanofibers supported on sintered metal fibers filters (CNF/SMF) and to explore the use of this material as a catalytic support for a model r ...

The size dependence of electron-phonon coupling rate has been investigated by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy for gold nanoparticles (NPs) wrapped in a shell of sulfate with diameter varying from 1.7 to 9.2 nm. Broad-band spectroscopy gives a ...

T-BuP(NH2)2 reacts with base-stabilized group 13 tri-hydrides with adduct formation (THF-BH3), with redn. to give t-BuPH2 (Me3N-AlH3) and with elimination of H22 and formation of a metallonitridophosphinate (Me3N-GaH3). In contrast, the reaction with Cp*Ti ...
