Extensive research has been conducted on chiral porphyrin-metal complex (M = Co, Rh, Ru, Fe)-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation of alkenes. However, the corresponding iridium complex has scarcely been exploited for this purpose. We report herein that th ...

Due to the high ring strain and unique bonding, cyclopropenes represent important 3-carbon synthons in organic synthesis. Intrigued by the unique reactivity of cyclopropenes, we were interested in further exploration of their chemical properties. Trying to ...

Organic azides are known for their reactivity and broad applicability in organic synthesis. These compounds are pivotal in various chemical transformations, including nucleophilic substitution and cycloaddition reactions. Beyond synthetic chemistry, organi ...

The mass-utilization of fossil resources has led to a dramatic increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) production, most of which is released directly into the Earth's atmosphere, resulting in global warming. Efforts to contain CO2 emissions and to capture, store ...

The conversion of carbon dioxide to value-added products using renewable electricity would potentially help to address current climate concerns. The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to propylene, a critical feedstock, requires multiple C-C coupl ...

Catalysis fulfills the promise that high-yielding chemical transformations will require little energy and produce no toxic waste. This message is carried by the study of the evolution of molecular catalysis of some of the most important reactions in organi ...

One of the main goals of organometallic chemistry in the last decades was the activation of small molecule in mild reaction conditions. Even though multiple examples of catalytic cycles able to produce fine chemicals from cheap and abundant sources using t ...

This study aimed at the development of active and stable structured catalyst for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide under industrial conditions. Sintered metal fibers of stainless steel (SMFss) in the form of flat panels were surface coated by differen ...

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) react at ambient conditions with nitrous oxide to give covalent adducts. In the crystal, all compounds show a bent N2O group connected via the N-atom to the former carbene carbon atom. Most adducts are stable at room temperat ...

Carbon-carbon bond forming reactions are among the most important and useful methods for organic synthesis. During the last years, significant progress has been made in this field. Whereas many catalysts were developed for the coupling of aryl, alkenyl, an ...

The influence of hydrothermal aging on the structural and catalytic properties of two commercial Fe-exchanged zeolite catalysts (Fe-FER and Fe-ZSM-5) in the extruded form employed for the removal of N2O from the exhaust of nitric acid production plants has ...

Supported metal catalysts are important from both an industrial and a scientific point of view. They are used, amongst others, in large-scale processes such as catalytic reforming, hydrotreating, polymerization reactions and hydrogenations. Often, these ca ...

An optimized approach to producing lattice-matched heterointerfaces for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution has not yet been reported. Herein, we present the synthesis of lattice-matched Mo2C-Mo2N heterostructures using a gradient heating epitaxial growth ...

Examples for applications of nitrous oxide in organic synthesis remain rare up until today. First mayor contributions of our group were published in 2012, when nitrous oxide was successfully captured by N-heterocyclic carbenes. Subsequent studies investiga ...

Structured supported ionic liquid-phase (SSILP) catalysis is a new concept with the advantages of ionic liquids (ILs) used as solvents for homogeneous catalyst and the further benefits of structured heterogeneous catalysts. This is achieved by confining th ...

A bimetallic complex, in which a RuCl2 (eta(2)C(2)H(4))(PCy3) fragment is connected via three chloro, bridges to a (eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl2 fragment, has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. This complex was used to cat ...

Arene hydrogenation by homogeneous catalysts is a highly controversial area of research, with many of the mononuclear complexes shown to catalyse the reaction, being found to be pre-catalysts to nanoparticles, on closer examination. The solvent properties ...

Synthesis gas production through the catalytic reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction is an attractive option for the conversion of CO2 to fuels. Many metal-based catalysts have been introduced for this reaction in order to provide high activity, CO selec ...

To endow metal-free materials with the high catalytic activity that is typically featured by a metal-based catalyst is yet a constant pursuit in the field of catalytic chemistry. In this work, novel functional biochars (DCNs) were prepared from wheat straw ...

Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is a highly poisonous gas that can form through the reaction between formaldehyde and ammonia (NH3) in the exhaust. While this detrimental side reaction has been the subject of recent catalytic studies under selective catalytic reduc ...
