Objectives: Endometrial preparation provides significant surgical benefits prior to hysteroscopic procedures. However, there is still no consensus on the optimal presurgical protocol. Although there is evidence on rapid preparation, there are currently no ...

Modern digital connectivity has necessitated the creation of robust methods for securely storing and transferring data. At the heart of all security infrastructure is the random number generator (RNG). While random numbers find use in a variety of applicat ...

Electric vehicle charging facilities offer their capacity constrained electric charge and parking to users for a fee. As electric vehicle adoption grows, so too does the potential for excessive resource utilization. In this paper, we study how prices set b ...

Various interactions, time arrangements, and constraints exist for individuals scheduling their day as a member of a household, which affect their in-home as well as out-of-home activity schedule. However, the existing activity-based models are mostly base ...

This paper examines the minimization of the cost for an expected random production output, given an assembly of finished goods from two random inputs, matched in two categories. We describe the optimal input portfolio, first using the standard normal appro ...

A central task in high-level synthesis is scheduling: the allocation of operations to clock cycles. The classic approach to scheduling is static, in which each operation is mapped to a clock cycle at compile-time, but recent years have seen the emergence o ...

In this work, we tackle the problem of minimising the Conditional-Value-at-Risk (CVaR) of output quantities of complex differential models with random input data, using gradient-based approaches in combination with the Multi-Level Monte Carlo (MLMC) method ...

Harnessing quantum randomness for the generation of random numbers is an important concept crucial for information security and many other computer-related applications. Quantum random number generators (QRNGs) are evolving from bulky, slow, and expensive ...

True random number generators (TRNGs) allow the generation of true random bit sequences, guaranteeing the unpredictability and perfect balancing of the generated values. TRNGs can be realised from the sampling of quantum phenomena, for instance, the detect ...

We are interested in testing properties of distributions with systematically mislabeled samples. Our goal is to make decisions about unknown probability distributions, using a sample that has been collected by a confused collector, such as a machine-learni ...

We introduce the "continuized" Nesterov acceleration, a close variant of Nesterov acceleration whose variables are indexed by a continuous time parameter. The two variables continuously mix following a linear ordinary differential equation and take gradien ...

In this paper, we perform the joint study of scale -invariant operators and self -similar processes of complex order. More precisely, we introduce general families of scale -invariant complex -order fractional -derivation and integration operators by const ...

Reinforcement learning (RL) is inherently rife with non-stationarity since the states and rewards the agent observes during training depend on its changing policy. Therefore, networks in deep RL must be capable of adapting to new observations and fitting n ...

Systems and method for a task scheduler with dynamic adjustment of concurrency levels and task granularity are disclosed for improved execution of highly concurrent analytical and transactional systems. The task scheduler can avoid both over commitment and ...

Background: Sleep deprivation causes hippocampal injury, manifesting as neuronal damage and learning-memory impairment. These negative effects may be associated with disturbance of hippocampal glutamate and water homeostasis, which induces excessive neuron ...

High entropy alloys add a new dimension, atomic-scale randomness and the associated scale-dependent composition fluctuations, to the traditional metallurgical axes of time-temperature-composition-microstructure. Alloy performance is controlled by the energ ...

In a non-uniform memory access machine, the placement of software threads to hardware cores can have a significant effect on the performance of concurrent applications. Detecting the best possible placement for each application is a necessity for thread sc ...

This work studies the learning process over social networks under partial and random information sharing. In traditional social learning models, agents exchange full belief information with each other while trying to infer the true state of nature. We stud ...

Given two random variables X and Y , an operational approach is undertaken to quantify the "leakage" of information from X to Y . The resulting measure L (X -> Y) is called maximal leakage, and is defined as the multiplicative increase, upon observing Y , ...

Learning in interdisciplinary spaces is key for generating new models of thinking (Aboelela et al., 2007, p. 341 in Tobi & Kampen, 2018); interdisciplinary thinking nurtures creativity and a critical enquiry of social challenges thanks to the entanglement ...
