Microscopic visualisation of optically transparent samples has been a topic of interest for several decades. Features such as density or chemical composition can influence the optical phase of transmitted light, and phase contrast can reveal these structur ...

We introduce a lock-in method to increase the phase contrast in incoherent differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging. This method improves the phase sensitivity by the analog removal of the background. The use of a smart pixel detector with in-pixel signal ...

We report new measurements of the production cross sections of pairs of charged pions and kaons as a function of their fractional energies using various fractional-energy definitions. Two different fractional-energy definitions were used and compared to th ...

In this study, we apply interferometric microscopy to study the phase, alongside the intensity, of the light field transmitted through a wide variety of samples. Additionally, we conduct those interferometric measurements at different wavelengths within th ...

In this work, we apply the high-resolution interference microscopy technique to investigate the intensity and phase of light transmitted through a binary phase element. Using a combination of simulation and experimental results, we identify specific featur ...

Coherent production of J/psi mesons is studied in lead-lead collision data at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 10 mu b(-1). The J/psi, mesons ar ...

Microscopy is of high interest for biology since it allows imaging features that are too small to be seen with naked eyes. However, cells are mostly transparent to visible and infrared light which makes it difficult to see with a traditional microscope. To ...

We report a measurement of the amplitude ratio r(S) of B-0 -> (DK)-K-0*(0) and B-0 -> (D) over bar K-0*(0) decays with a Dalitz analysis of D -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) decays, for the first time using a model-independent method. We set an upper limit r(S) < 0.87 ...

We report a measurement of the differential cross section of pi(0) pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, gamma*gamma -> pi(0) pi(0), in e(+) e(-) scattering. The cross section is measured for Q(2) up to 30 GeV2, where Q(2) is the negative of ...

Using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider, we measure the energy dependence of the e(+)e(-) -> h(b)(nP)pi(+)pi(-) (n = 1, 2) cross sections from thresholds up to 11.02 GeV. We find clear gamma(10860) and g ...

The process e(+)e(-) -> gamma chi(cJ) (J = 1, 2) is studied via initial state radiation using 980 fb(-1) of data at and around the Gamma(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) resonances collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetricenergy e(+)e(-) collider. No ...

Bulk Rashba systems BiTeX (X = I, Br, Cl) are emerging as important candidates for developing spintronics devices because of the coexistence of spin-split bulk and surface states, along with the ambipolar character of the surface charge carriers. The need ...

We report a high-statistics measurement of the differential cross section of the process gamma gamma -> (KSKS0)-K-0 in the range 1.05 GeV

We report a measurement of exclusive e(+)e(-) -> Ds()+Ds()- cross sections as a function of center-of-mass energy near the Ds()+Ds()- threshold with initial-state radiation. The analysis is based on a data sample collected with the Belle detector with ...

We present in this PhD thesis work various applications of digital holographic microscopy (DHM), an imaging technique based on coherent illumination which enables the recovery of the full complex wavefront, i.e. the amplitude and phase of a wave field whic ...

The cross sections for e+e-→Φ π+π- and e+e-→Φ f0(980) are measured from threshold to s=3.0GeV using initial-state radiation. The analysis is based on a data sample of 673fb-1 collected on and below the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB as ...

The cross sections for the reactions e+ e- → φ{symbol} η, φ{symbol} η′, ρη, ρ η′ have been measured using a data sample of 516 fb- 1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. The corresponding values of the cross secti ...

Obtaining high resolution 3D quantitative images is critical for elucidating the relationship between cell dynamics and physiological or pathological processes. However the feasibility of such cellular dynamic studies is limited by the resolution of the 3D ...

Digital Holographic Microscopy (DHM) is a single shot interferometric technique, which provides quantitative phase images with subwavelength axial accuracy. A short hologram acquisition time (down to microseconds), allows DHM to offer a reduced sensitivity ...

Phase of the interference fringe pattern is known to convey important information in optical metrology. Typically, phase measurement using temporal techniques involves incorporating a piezoelectric device (PZT) in one arm of the interferometer for shifting ...
