Navigation of drones is predominantly based on sensor fusion algorithms. Most of these algorithms make use of some form of Bayesian filtering with a majority employing an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), wherein inertial measurements are fused with a Global N ...

The flywheel is a widespread mechanical component used for the storage of kinetic energy and angular momentum. It typically consists of cylindrical inertia rotating about its axis on rolling bearings, which involves undesired friction, lubrication, and wea ...

Wide signal bandwidth and precisely time-synchronized single-frequency network predetermines DVB-T and its successor DVB-T2 for Signals of Opportunity (SoP) radio positioning. Previously published methods were based on demanding OFDM symbol synchronization ...

This article investigates the performance and accuracy of continuous Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position tracking for hydromorphological surveys, based on a comprehensive river restoration monitoring campaign. The a ...

Autonomous navigation of small UAVs is typically based on the integration of inertial navigation systems (INS) together with global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). However, GNSS signals can face various forms of interference affecting their continuous ...

Traditional martial arts are treasures of humanity's knowledge and critical carriers of sociocultural memories throughout history. However, such treasured practices have encountered various challenges in knowledge transmission and now feature many entries ...

Purpose: To develop a self-navigated motion compensation strategy for 3D radial MRI that can compensate for continuous head motion by measuring rigid body motion parameters with high temporal resolution from the central k-space acquisition point (self-enco ...

With the prevalence of smartphones, watches, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the ability to track their positions is becoming increasingly important. For many indoor positioning systems (IPSs), providing an uninterrupted flow of information in real-t ...

A variety of physical inputs acts onto bacteria in nature. However, these are most often ignored in the studies of their physiology. There is now increasing evidence indicating that bacteria respond to physical stimuli, including mechanical forces. Yet, qu ...

Time has always been a central factor in understanding the challenges of daily mobility. For a long time, and still today, methods of economic evaluation of transport projects have monetized time savings so that they can be included in the cost–benefit ana ...

3D reconstruction of deformable (or non-rigid) scenes from a set of monocular 2D image observations is a long-standing and actively researched area of computer vision and graphics. It is an ill-posed inverse problem, since-without additional prior assumpti ...

Purpose: Despite being an authentic carrier of various cultural practices, the human body is often underutilised to access the knowledge of human body. Digital inventions today have created new avenues to open up cultural data resources, yet mainly as appa ...

Cargo drones are designed to carry payloads with predefined shape, size, and/or mass. This lack of flexibility requires a fleet of diverse drones tailored to specific cargo dimensions. Here we propose a new reconfigurable drone based on a modular design th ...

The forced response of rigid rotors, supported by herringbone-grooved gas journal bearings are investigated numerically and experimentally. The rotor configurations are varied by using end cylinders, attached at both sides of the shaft. Three rotors with d ...

In future High Energy Physics detectors, the coverage of large surfaces with silicon pixel chip sensors poses a challenge for the sensors positioning, for their cooling, assembly, and interconnection. The use of a cooling substrate on which the sensors are ...

This paper presents a novel planar four-bar linkage compliant mechanism (called 4-RCC) based on four flexure-based Remote Center of Compliance (RCC) pivots. With particular configurations and dimensions, the beam shortening of the RCC pivots can compensate ...

With the application requirements of wireless technology in implantable bioelectronics, knowledge of the fundamental limits for implanted antennas becomes critical. In this work, we investigated the variation of maximum power density within simplified body ...

Metadata-private messaging designs that scale to support millions of users are rigid: they limit users to a single device that is online all the time and transmits on short regular intervals, and require users to choose precisely when each of their buddies ...

A Concideration of Typologies for Housing the Sick as a Spatial Manifestation of knowledge. ...

Every day millions of people read Wikipedia. When navigating the vast space of available topics using hyperlinks, readers describe trajectories on the article network. Understanding these navigation patterns is crucial to better serve readers' needs and ad ...
