Organic azides are known for their reactivity and broad applicability in organic synthesis. These compounds are pivotal in various chemical transformations, including nucleophilic substitution and cycloaddition reactions. Beyond synthetic chemistry, organi ...

The chemistry of the f-elements, especially uranium, in very low oxidation states has seen significant advances in the last two decades. These low-valent species have often been demonstrated to be crucial in the activation of small molecules such as N2 and ...

We investigate a layer of cobalt tetrapyridyl porphyrins (CoTPyPs) self-assembled on an almost freestanding graphene (GR) sheet supported by Ir(111) with complementary experimental techniques and density functional theory (DFT) ab initio simulations. Besid ...

One of the main goals of organometallic chemistry in the last decades was the activation of small molecule in mild reaction conditions. Even though multiple examples of catalytic cycles able to produce fine chemicals from cheap and abundant sources using t ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have firmly established in the field of porous materials since their early discovery in the 1990s. With a plethora of applications, these materials offer endless possibilities owing to their tunable, modular nature. The vast ...

The small Stokes shift and weak emission in the solid state are two main shortcomings associated with the boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) family of dyes. This study presents the design, synthesis and luminescent properties of boron difluoro complexes of 2-ar ...

This work is addressing the arenes' hydrogenation-the processes of high importance for petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Noble metal (Pd, Pt, Ru) nanoparticles (NPs) stabilized in hyper-cross-linked polystyrene (HPS) were shown to be a ...

The Fenton reaction is an effective advanced oxidation process occurring in nature and applied in engineering processes toward the degradation of harmful substances, including contaminants of emerging concern. The traditional Fenton application can be rema ...

Our society is engaged in a major shift towards more sustainable industries. The required transition from fossils to renewable resources with low greenhouse gas emission is specifically challenging in the transportation sector where high thermal efficiency ...

The potent nucleophilicity and remarkably low basicity of 1,3,2- diazaphospholenes (DAPs) is exploited in a catalytic, metal-free 1,4-reduction of free ,-unsaturated carboxylic acids. Notably, the reduction occurs without a prior deprotonation of the car ...

Chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis are the workhorses of enantioselective transformations, but they still remain limited in terms of either efficiency or generality. Herein, we present an alternative strategy for controlling the stereoselectivity ...

CONSPECTUS: Ligand development plays an essential role in the advance of homogeneous catalysis. Tridentate, meridionally coordinating ligands, commonly termed pincer ligands, have been established as a privileged class of ligands in catalysis because they ...

We report the increased level of mechanistic information that Raman spectroscopy can provide when combined with modulated excitation experimentation. A V2O5/TiO2 catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO, was subjected to periodic NH3 puls ...

Heterogeneous catalysis has long been a workhorse for the chemical industry and will likely play a key role in the emerging area of renewable chemistry. However, renewable molecule streams pose unique challenges for heterogeneous catalysis due to their hig ...

This thesis describes the design and synthesis of clathrochelate metalloligands for the construction of molecular nanostructures. The low synthetic effort, versatility and stability of the clathrochelate metalloligands makes them particularly suited to the ...

The structure of a biological system defines its function. Therefore, nature has developed sophisticated systems that catalyze chemical reactions that are vital for life on earth. For instance, the photosynthesis is a biological process that is partially r ...

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are extended structures composed of a network of organic ligands and metal ions or clusters connected to each other via coordination bonds. The numerous choices of organic ligands and metal coordination geometries have led t ...

The reaction of propargyl amines with tert-butylisonitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of both Yb(OTf)3 and AgOTf afforded imidazoles, whereas the same reaction with primary and secondary alkylisonitriles, as well as arylisonitriles, in the prese ...

Chemoselective hydrosilylation of functionalized alkenes is difficult to achieve using base-metal catalysts. Reported herein is that well-defined bis(amino) amide nickel pincer complexes are efficient catalysts for anti-Markovnikov hydrosilylation of termi ...
