This article proposes a new two-wired amplifying active electrode (AE), presenting a high input impedance and a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). In the proposed structure, the input impedance and the CMRR of the system are considerably increased by ...

This paper presents an energy and area efficient capacitively-coupled chopper instrumentation amplifier (CCIA) dedicated to implantable bridge sensor systems. Chopper stabilization is employed to decrease its offset and 1/f noise and the resulting ripple d ...

This paper presents an energy-efficient, duty-cycled, and spinning excitation bridge-to-digital converter (BDC) designed for implantable pressure sensing systems. The circuit provides the measure of the pulmonary artery pressure that is particularly releva ...

In this work, we experimentally explore and compare FET gate stacks with and without an inner metal plane between a linear dielectric (SiO2) and a ferroelectric layer (Si-doped HfO2) operating in the negative capacitance (NC) regime. The use of nanosecond- ...

Blumino is the first analog silicon photomultiplier with integrated amplifier, comparator and time-to-digital converter (TDC). The combination of a photodetector together with on-chip readout circuitry enables system-level advantages, such as internal para ...

This paper presents a low-power single-channel 8-bit loop-unrolled (LU) successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital-converter (ADC) with a novel common-mode adaptive background comparator offset calibration scheme. LU-SAR ADCs use multiple co ...

This letter presents an energy-and-area-efficient ac-coupled front-end for the multichannel recording of wideband neural signals. The proposed unit conditions local held and action potentials using an inverter-based capacitively coupled low-noise amplifier ...

Resonant sensors based on micro- and nano-electro mechanical systems (M/NEMS) are ubiquitous in many sensing applications due to their outstanding performance capabilities, which are directly proportional to the quality factor (Q) of the devices. We addres ...

Microchannel plates fabricated from hydrogenated amorphous silicon (AMCPs) are a promising alternative to conventional lead glass microchannel plates. Their main advantages lie in their cheaper and more flexible fabrication processes, allowing for adaptabl ...

A detailed analysis on the Sawyer–Tower method used in the measurement of large-signal output capacitance (Co) of power transistors is presented, followed by important design recommendations to obtain accurate results. Key factors affecting the proper impl ...

The integration of technology in the medical field has greatly improved accuracy in diagnoses, thus leading to more effective treatments. Wearable and implantable medical devices offer great potential for remote patient monitoring, particularly for heart f ...

The crowdedness of the RF spectrum constitutes problems in communication, however it also accommodates large amount of useful information. This information can be used to determine existing signals and operating contexts. However, spectrum condition varies ...

Since the seventies, positron emission tomography (PET) has become an invaluable medical molecular imaging modality with an unprecedented sensitivity at the picomolar level, especially for cancer diagnosis and the monitoring of its response to therapy. Mor ...

Positron emission tomography is a nuclear imaging technique well known for its use in oncology for cancer diagnosis and staging. A PET scanner is a complex machine which comprises photodetectors placed in a ring configuration that detect gamma photons gen ...

Among hydrodynamically unstable flows, the amplifier-flows are characterized by their large amplification potential in presence of external noise. Since amplifiers do not have an intrinsic dynamics, a chosen forcing can be applied to eventually control the ...

In this work, we present a new device concept for compact high-voltage sensing with high-impedance input port, consisting of an AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility channel controlled by trapped carriers generated by a metallic electrode. The high-voltage appl ...

In this paper, a model for the input impedance of a hot-wire electro-explosive device (EED) based on differential-mode measurements is proposed. The model represents the EED using three transmission line segments in cascade. The characteristics of each seg ...
