In present day tokamaks, the role of the control research is to support the physics experiments and to prepare technologies for future devices such as ITER and DEMO. This paper presents the developments done under the MST1 program collaboration on ASDEX Up ...

The first ITER & x0027;s European Toroidal Field Coil (TFC) is going to be assembled in 2019. The TFC is composed mainly by the superconducting Winding Pack (WP - manufactured in Europe), and the Coil Cases (TFCC - manufactured in Japan), which provide str ...

This paper presents results of extensive analysis of mode excitation observed during the operation of the Alfven Eigenmode Active Diagnostic (AEAD) in the JET tokamak during the 2019-2020 deuterium campaign. Six of eight toroidally spaced antennas, each wi ...

An injector of fast deuterium atoms for plasma heating was designed and installed at the Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV). The neutral beam can deliver 1 MW power to the plasma in 2 s pulses. An ion beam of the injector is formed by a triode multisli ...

DIII-D research is addressing critical challenges in preparation for ITER and the next generation of fusion devices through focusing on plasma physics fundamentals that underpin key fusion goals, understanding the interaction of disparate core and boundary ...

A novel multiphysics methodology for the computation of realistic plasma neutron sources has been developed. The method is based on state-of-the-art plasma transport and neutron spectrum calculations, coupled with a Monte Carlo neutron transport code, brid ...

Four electron cyclotron heating upper launchers (ECHULs) will be used at ITER to counteract magnetohydrodynamic plasma instabilities by targeting them with up to 24 MW of mm-wave power at 170 GHz. This mm-wave power is injected through eight ex-vessel (EV) ...

This work reports developments of the incoherent TS diagnostic capabilities in the Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV). Their goals are to (i) diagnose the TCV divertor region, and (ii) provide Te and ne profiles of the plasma bulk in real-time. These t ...
