Sensing and imaging of light in the shortwave infrared (SWIR) range is increasingly used in various fields, including bio-imaging, remote sensing, and semiconductor process control. SWIR-sensitive organic photodetectors (OPDs) are promising because organic ...

Polymeric semiconductors have gained significant attention in the field of organic electronics due to their unique properties and potential applications. Through their ability to transport charge carriers and to absorb or emit light, they have attracted mu ...

Molecules with inversion of the singlet and triplet excited-state energies are highly promising for the development of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). To date, azaphenalenes are the only class of molecules where these inversions have been identified ...

Organic upconversion devices (OUCs) consist of an organic infrared photodetector and an organic visible light-emitting diode (OLED), connected in series. OUCs convert photons from the infrared to the visible and are of use in applications such as process c ...

Semiconducting polymers are being studied intensively for optoelectronic device applications, including solution-processed light-emitting diodes (PLEDs). Charge traps in polymers limit the charge transport and thus the PLED efficiency. It is firmly establi ...

Hot exciton materials have the potential to improve the quantum efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by promoting high reversed intersystem crossing (hRISC) between a high-lying triplet (T-n, n >= 2) and a radiative singlet (S-m). In recent ...

The fabrication of high-performance metal-oxide-based thin-film transistors (TFTs) on flexible and transparent polymer substrates by solution processes has garnered substantial interest, particularly for manufacturing flex-ible electronics. However, the an ...

Squaraines are organic dyes showing the advantages of a simple synthesis, high absorption coefficients and tunable bandgaps from the visible to the near-infrared (NIR) region. Their molecular structure is based on a polymethine chain and a donor-acceptor-d ...

State-of-the-art organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) used in commercial display technology are complex multilayer structures. In contrast, the light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) can be built from a single emissive layer sandwiched between two elec ...

Novel metal-oxides (MOx) semiconductors for thin-film transistors (TFTs) are being developed as they can offer superior electric performances over organic-based counterparts. MOx TFTs processed on foil could be exploited in smart labels as RFID and NFC tag ...

Conventional conductive films that are used as electrodes in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) are susceptible to mechanical deformation, limiting the applicability of such films in flexible wearable electronic devices. To address this limitation, a hy ...

The work presented in this thesis is focused on the design and discovery of new luminescent, porous, crystalline materials for targeted applications. In particular, we focus on luminescent Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Organic Molecules of Intrinsic ...

In-situ laser sintering can be used to locally sinter conductive inks in an uninterrupted process, enabling the embedding of printed electronics within 3D printed structures. In this work we apply a laser sintering method to create highly conductive silver ...

The paper deals with the preparation and investigation of a series of polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) based on polysulfone matrix and an azomethine liquid crystal. The PDLC systems were prepared by thermal induced phase separation method. Their m ...

Interfaces in perovskite and organic solar cells play a central role in advancing efficiency and prolong device durability. They improve charge transport/transfer from the absorber layer to the collecting electrodes, while also blocking the opposite charge ...

OLED technology beyond small or expensive devices requires light-emitters, luminophores, based on earth-abundant elements. Understanding and experimental verification of charge transfer in luminophores are needed for this development. An organometallic mul ...

A current-driven source of long-range surface plasmons (LRSPs) on a duplex metal nanolayer is reported. Electrical excitation of LRSPs was experimentally observed in a planar structure, where an organic light-emitting film was sandwiched between two metal ...

Crystalline thin films of pi-conjugated molecules are relevant as the active layers in organic electronic devices. Therefore, materials with enhanced control over the supramolecular arrangement, crystallinity, and thin-film morphology are desirable. Herein ...

The growing demand for low-cost, large-scale and flexible electronics has led to a boost in research on organic semiconductors (OSC). Understanding structure-packing-property relationships (SPPR) and the role of molecular building blocks in charge transpor ...

Printed electronics has promised to deliver low-cost, large-area and flexible electronics for mass-market applications for some time; however, so far one limiting factor has been device performance. Over the last decade, great progress has been made in ter ...
