In this paper we study the properties of the quenched pressure of a multi-layer spin-glass model (a deep Boltzmann Machine in artificial intelligence jargon) whose pairwise interactions are allowed between spins lying in adjacent layers and not inside the ...

The log law of the wall, joining the inner, near-wall mean velocity profile (MVP) in wall-bounded turbulent flows to the outer region, has been a permanent fixture of turbulence research for over hundred years, but there is still no general agreement on th ...

We consider mean field ferromagnetic spin models on dilute random graphs and prove that, with suitable one-body infinitesimal perturbations added to the Hamiltonian, the multi-overlaps concentrate for all temperatures, both with respect to the thermal Gibb ...

Low-density neutron matter is characterized by fascinating emergent quantum phenomena, such as the formation of Cooper pairs and the onset of superfluidity. We model this density regime by capitalizing on the expressivity of the hidden-nucleon neural-netwo ...

The Renyi entanglement entropy in quantum many-body systems can be viewed as the difference in free energy between partition functions with different trace topologies. We introduce an external field lambda that controls the partition function topology, all ...

We examine the role of charge, structural, and spin degrees of freedom in the previously poorly understood phase transition in the 5d1 transition-metal double perovskite Cs2TaCl6 using a combination of computational and experimental techniques. Our heat ca ...

Long-range magnetic ordering and short-range spin correlations in layered noncentrosymmetric orthogermanate Li2MnGeO4 were studied by means of polarized and unpolarized neutron scattering. The combined Rietveld refinement of synchrotron and neutron powder ...

Potassium chromium jarosite, KCr3(OH)(6)(SO4)(2) (Cr-jarosite), is considered a promising candidate to display spin liquid behavior due to the strong magnetic frustration imposed by the crystal structure. However, the ground state magnetic properties have ...

The surface charge of an open water surface is crucialfor solvationphenomena and interfacial processes in aqueous systems. However, themagnitude of the charge is controversial, and the physical mechanismof charging remains incompletely understood. Here we ...

Structural phase transitions in f-electron materials have attracted sustained attention both for practical and basic science reasons, including the fact that they offer an environment to directly investigate relationships between structure and the f-state. ...

A γ spectroscopy standard system is normally based on inorganic scintillators or on HPGe detectors. The electronic chain consists of a set of NIM modules necessary for the acquisition and processing of the analog signal. The structural characteristics and ...

Mixed cation perovskites, [HC(NH2)2]xCs(1-x)PbI3, (FAxCs(1-x)PbI3) with x=0.8 achieve high solar cell power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) while exhibiting long-term stability under ambient conditions. In this work, we perform density functional theory (DF ...

This Thesis is mainly devoted to the exploration of the structural disorder and magnetic order in two-dimensional crystals by means of first-principles methodologies. Firstly, we present a comparative study of defect formation in the semiconducting 2H and ...

We report magnetic properties of a 3d(9) (Cu2+) magnetic insulator Cu2OSO4 measured on both powder and single crystal. The magnetic atoms of this compound form layers whose geometry can be described either as a system of chains coupled through dimers or as ...

The compound La2-2xSr1+2xMn2O7,x= 0.30-0.40, consists of bilayers of ferromagnetic metallic MnO(2)sheets that are separated by insulating layers. The materials show colossal magnetoresistance-a reduction in resistivity of up to two orders of magnitude in a ...

This correspondence highlights that the Gibbs free energy description of a ferroelectric capacitor in series with a paraelectric capacitor, depends on the initial charge on the plates of the ferroelectric capacitor. An incomplete Gibbs free energy descript ...

Chromium triiodide, CrI3, is emerging as a promising magnetic two-dimensional semiconductor where spins are ferromagnetically aligned within a single layer. Potential applications in spintronics arise from an antiferromagnetic ordering between adjacent lay ...

We propose a class of quantum simulators for antiferromagnetic spin systems based on coupled photonic cavities in the presence of two-photon driving and dissipation. By modeling the coupling between the different cavities through a hopping term with negati ...

In-situ temperature XRD and mechanical spectroscopy were applied to study phase transitions in AuCu alloy from the disordered FCC state (A1). The phase transition temperature intervals were investigated upon heating and cooling using a rate of 1 K/min in o ...

Using linear flavor-wave theory (LFWT) and auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo (QMC), we investigate the properties of the SU(4) Heisenberg model on the anisotropic square lattice in the fully antisymmetric six-dimensional irreducible representation, a mod ...
