Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are becoming increasingly popular for a broad variety of tasks ranging from aerial imagery to objects delivery. With the expansion of the areas, where drones can be efficiently used, the collision risk with other flying objects inc ...

Acousto-optical coherence tomography (AOCT) is a variant of acousto-optic imaging (also called ultrasound modulated optical tomography) that makes possible to get resolution along the ultrasound propagation axis z. We present here AOCT experimental results ...

3D ultrasound (US) acquisition acquires volumetric images, thus alleviating a classical US imaging bottleneck that requires a highly-trained sonographer to operate the US probe. However, this opportunity has not been explored in practice, since 3D US machi ...

Accurate calibration is a requirement of many array signal processing techniques. We investigate the calibration of a transducer array using time delays. We derive a strategy based on the mean square error criterion and discuss how time delays that are not ...

3D ultrasound, an emerging medical imaging technique that is presently only used in hospitals, has the potential to enable breakthrough telemedicine applications, provided that its cost and power dissipation can be minimized. In this paper, we present an F ...

Ultrasound imaging is a reference medical diagnostic technique, thanks to its blend of versatility, effectiveness, and moderate cost. The core computation of all ultrasound imaging methods is based on simple formulae, except for those required to calculate ...

Modeling the acoustical process of soft biological tissue imaging and understanding the consequences of the approximations required by. such modeling are key steps for accurately simulating ultrasonic scanning as well as estimating the scattering coefficie ...

Ultrasonography uses multiple piezo-electric element probes to image tissues. Current time-domain beamforming techniques require the signal at each transducer-element to be sampled at a rate higher than the Nyquist criterion, resulting in an extensive amou ...

Nowadays, the general trend towards to minimally invasive interventions is present in all the medical domains. For the surgical intervertebral spinal disc cutting or removal domain, it is particularly a necessity because the manual methods currently employ ...

A growing body of research on statistical applications for characterization of atmospheric aerosol Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) samples collected on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filters (e.g., Russell et al., 2011; Ruthenburg et al., 2014) and a ri ...

Solutions of the organic pollutant model, Crystal Violet (CV), were subjected to ultrasonic, electrochemical treatment and its combination. Ultrasound was tested at two frequencies (20 kHz or 800 kHz) and 80 W in deionized water. After 120 min, 20 kHz cond ...

Ultrasound imaging is a technique widely used in medicine to visualize organs and other body structures, capturing their position, size, morphology and any pathological lesions. Its use is unfortunately limited to specialized centers with trained personnel ...

Ultrasound imaging allows the evaluation of the degree of emergency of a patient. However, in several occasions a well trained sonographer is unavailable to perform such echography. To cope with this issue, the OTELO project aims to develop a fully integra ...

This study aims to evaluate the performance of a novel pilot-scale coupled system consisting of a high frequency ultrasonic reactor (400 kHz) and a compound parabolic collector (CPC). The benefits of the concurrent application of ultrasound and the photo-F ...

During the last two decades, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has evolved into one of the most powerful techniques in medical diagnosis. Among the various medical diagnostic modalities, such as X-ray or ultra-sound imaging, MRI is the technique of choice e ...
