This study employs a Cohesive Zone Model to quantitatively evaluate the evolution of interfacial fracture parameters across various interface architectures. Employing the Material Extrusion (ME) type 3D printing method, sutural interfaces characterized by ...

Full characterization of electric-field waveforms in amplitude and phase is achieved across the terahertz to visible spectral range through interaction with an optical pulse shorter than a half-cycle period via the Pockels (linear electro-optic) effect. Th ...

The jet axis decorrelation in inclusive jets is studied using lead-lead (PbPb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV. The jet axis decorrelation is defined as the angular difference between two definitions of the jet axis. It i ...

Optical biosensors offer significant advantages for minimally invasive in vivo and in vitro diagnostics. Optical sensors that are based on the fluorescence of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) especially benefit from a near-infrared (n ...

Sensing and imaging of light in the shortwave infrared (SWIR) range is increasingly used in various fields, including bio-imaging, remote sensing, and semiconductor process control. SWIR-sensitive organic photodetectors (OPDs) are promising because organic ...

The escalating energy demand and the imperative necessity to reduce the carbon footprint require transformative approaches to energy conversion. Materials chemistry plays a pivotal role in addressing these global challenges by developing novel materials fo ...

Perovskite-based solar cells are currently the most rapidly advancing photovoltaic technology but concerns about their long-term stability are still impeding full-scale commercialization. This thesis provides computational insights into some of the stabili ...

The interaction of light and matter enables nonlinear frequency conversion and the creation of coherent currents. The optical control of electric currents is of fundamental relevance and prominent research focus in the last decades. These photocurrents ena ...

A widely used component of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the molecular hole-transport material (HTM) spiro-OMeTAD. This organic solid needs to be p-doped to acquire sufficient hole conductivity. However, the conventional doping method us ...

Melt electrowriting is a microscale manufacturing technique that uses polymer-based melts to create fibrous structures. An electric field is used to stabilize a continuous molten jet, which is then written onto a substrate as a microscale fiber. Herein, it ...

Transition-metal dichalcogenide bilayers exhibit a rich exciton landscape including layer-hybridized excitons, i.e. excitons which are of partly intra- and interlayer nature. In this work, we study hybrid exciton-exciton interactions in naturally stacked W ...

The synthesis of high-performance gas-sieving zeolitic film is challenging because it involves seeded secondary growth which is complex and difficult to reproduce. Additionally, expensive asymmetric inorganic porous supports are often needed for calcinatio ...

Over the past decade, lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have received considerable attention thanks to their impressive optoelectronic properties. Today, LHP-based devices are one of the most efficient single-junction solar cells, with power-conversion effici ...

This thesis reports on the study and use of low temperature processes for the deposition of indium gallium nitride (InGaN) thin films in order to alleviate some of the present drawbacks of its monolitic deposition on silicon for photovoltaic applications. ...

Synthetic messenger RNA (mRNA)-based therapeutics have emerged as promising candidates for the prevention and treatment of a wide range of diseases and disorders. mRNA possesses notable advantages, including exceptional safety, the capacity to replace vari ...

Electrons generated by Landau damping of the plasmon excitation on gold nanoparticles that can be injected into an adjacent semiconductor e.g. anatase TiO2, enhancing the light harvesting capabilities of solar energy conversion devices. The understanding o ...

Singlet fission (SF) is a multiexciton-generating process whereby an excited state singlet (S1) is converted into two lower-energy triplets (T1). The inclusion of a SF-capable material into a photovoltaic device offers the potential for the absorption of p ...

Polymeric semiconductors have gained significant attention in the field of organic electronics due to their unique properties and potential applications. Through their ability to transport charge carriers and to absorb or emit light, they have attracted mu ...

The color-tuning strategies of solid-state light-emitting devices (ss-LEDs) are mainly focused on engineering molecular structures. In this paper, for the first time, we developed a facile strategy for tuning the electroluminescence (EL) color from orange ...

Chalcogenide glass exhibits a wide transmission window in the infrared range, a high refractive index, and nonlinear optical properties; however, due to its poor mechanical properties and low chemical and environmental stability, producing three-dimensiona ...
