A probabilistic model for estimating the fatigue life of composite laminates based on the mean value and standard deviation of the fatigue life is introduced here for predicting the distribution of fatigue life at any stress level for a constant stress rat ...

A new numerically-based method suitable for determining the total strain energy release rate (SERA) involved in two-dimensional (2D) Mode I-dominated delamination under opening loads in FRP laminates is presented. The method is based on the mutual dependen ...

In this study, the temperature effect on the static and tension–tension fatigue behavior of basalt fiber‐reinforced epoxy polymer (BFRP) composites is investigated. The S–N curves, energy dissipation, stiffness degradation, and displacement increment with ...

Welded details in steel bridges are subjected to fatigue lives up to 200.10(6) cycles due to traffic loads. While the majority of these stress ranges are below the Constant Amplitude Fatigue Limit (CAFL), some few high stress cycles can trigger the start o ...

The examination of bridges under service loading is key for understanding their condition and thus for their sustainable and efficient use. The need to extend the service duration of existing bridges is increasing, and therefore, efficient tools for examin ...

Modern bridge construction all over Europe in the last decades, has highlighted the importance of steel solutions for the design of bridges. Steel bridges have become slender and lighter with the generalisation of welded connections. These features increas ...

Investigations on the fatigue strength of steel reinforcement bars (rebars) mainly involves fatigue tests with hot rolled (HR) and cold worked (CW) steels. However, in the last few decades, HR and CW rebars were replaced by quenched and selftempered (QST) ...

It is possible to construct Levy white noises as generalized random processes in the sense of Gel'fand and Vilenkin, or as an independently scattered random measures introduced by Rajput and Rosinski. In this article, we unify those two approaches by exten ...

Since myocardial fibers drive the electric signal propagation throughout the myocardium, accurately modeling their arrangement is essential for simulating heart electrophysiology (EP). Rule-Based-Methods (RBMs) represent a commonly used strategy to include ...

Fatigue analysis of steel bridges asks for consideration of welded joints. Traditional fatigue analysis of welded joints under variable amplitude loadings is based on the nominal stress approach, wherein constant amplitude (CA) S-N curves are used in combi ...

The aim of this paper is to propose a new framework for assessment of fatigue partial safety factors with focus on steel bridges welded joints. Fatigue resistance S-N curves for constant amplitude (CA) and variable amplitude (VA) loadings are defined using ...

This work investigates the fatigue resistance of reinforced Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious composite (R-UHPFRC) beams with special consideration of steel rebar – UHPFRC interaction under tensile stresses due to bending. Experimental t ...

The fatigue behavior of a reinforced UHPFRC (Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious composite) T-shaped beam under four-point bending is investigated. The beam was subjected to a fatigue loading range equal to 49% of the static resistance and ...

Ultra-High Performance Fibre Reinforced Composites (UHPFRC) is a cementitious material showing relatively high tensile strength and significant tensile strain-hardening behaviour (given a certain volume of fibres). Adding a layer of UHPFRC or UHPFRC combin ...
