The optical and electrical properties of Ru1-xTixO2 (0

Incorporation of Mo into pure WO3 thin films is of interest for electrochromic devices, as it improves colour neutrality in the dark state. Existing literature still lacks reliable quantitative data on the complex dielectric function of such coatings. In t ...

A good knowledge of material properties is a critical aspect for modeling high-temperature superconductor (HTS) devices. However, the electrical resistivity of coated conductors above the critical current is limited. The major challenge in characterizing t ...

Zn1-xCoxO (0 < x < 0.146) conductive thin films have been deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering of metallic Zn and Co targets at high pressure and temperature. The structural properties have been investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray ...

Integrated photonics enables signal synthesis, modulation and conversion using photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Many materials have been developed, among which silicon nitride (Si3N4) has emerged as a leading platform particularly for nonlinear photoni ...

Three-dimensional topological insulators comprise topologically protected surface states displaying massless, Dirac-like linear dispersion with spin-momentum locking. Electrical conduction through such surface states has been documented to manifest itself ...

Polymer-derived ceramics (PDC) have recently gained increased interest in the field of bioceramics. Among PDC's, carbon-rich silicon oxycarbide ceramics (SiOC) possess good combined electrical and mechanical properties. Their durability in aggressive envir ...

We have experimentally studied the variation in electrical resistance of flexible platinum lines patterned on polyimide foil when they are subjected to circular bending constraints. The lines were patterned by means of standard photolithography and sputter ...

We have recorded the diffraction patterns from individual xenon clusters irradiated with intense extreme ultraviolet pulses to investigate the influence of light-induced electronic changes on the scattering response. The clusters were irradiated with short ...

High-speed actuation of laser frequency(1)is critical in applications using lasers and frequency combs(2,3), and is a prerequisite for phase locking, frequency stabilization and stability transfer among optical carriers. For example, high-bandwidth feedbac ...

This paper presents an equivalent electrical circuit for one dimensional substrate minority carriers spice simulation. The electrical circuit parameters are extracted from substrate meshing applying the finite difference method. This model is derived from ...

Convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns of twisted bilayer samples exhibit interference patterns in their CBED spots. Such interference patterns can be treated as off-axis holograms and the phase of the scattered waves, and hence the interlaye ...

An anisotropic magnetorheological composite formed by dispersions of silver-covered magnetite microparticles (Fe3O4@Ag) in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) displaying electrical conduction only in one preferred direction is presented. A set-up for applying and ...

Terminal uranium nitrides have so far proven impossible to isolate by photolysis of azides. Here we report the second ever example of an isolated terminal uranium(VI) nitride. We show that the terminal nitride [NBu4] [U(OSi((OBu)-Bu-t)(3))(4)(N)], 3, can b ...

The ironless inductive position sensor (I2PS) is a five-coil air-cored structure that senses the variation of flux linkage between supply and sense coils and relates it to the linear position of a moving coil. In air-cored structures, the skin and proximit ...
