La notation L est un analogue aux notations de Landau en notation asymptotique. Cette notation a été introduite par Carl Pomerance en 1982 pour comparer différents algorithmes de factorisation et a été généralisée à deux paramètres par Arjen Lenstra et Hendrik Lenstra. Elle est principalement utilisée en théorie algorithmique des nombres, où elle permet de donner une échelle entre les différents algorithmes exponentiels.

Comparaison asymptotique

En mathématiques, plus précisément en analyse, la comparaison asymptotique est une méthode consistant à étudier la vitesse de croissance d'une fonction au voisinage d'un point ou à l'infini, en la comparant à celle d'une autre fonction considérée comme plus « simple ». Celle-ci est souvent choisie sur une échelle de référence, contenant en général au moins certaines fonctions dites élémentaires, en particulier les sommes et produits de polynômes, d'exponentielles et de logarithmes.

Groupe algébrique

En géométrie algébrique, la notion de groupe algébrique est un équivalent des groupes de Lie en géométrie différentielle ou complexe. Un groupe algébrique est une variété algébrique munie d'une loi de groupe compatible avec sa structure de variété algébrique. Un groupe algébrique sur un corps (commutatif) K est une variété algébrique sur munie : d'un morphisme de K-variétés algébriques (appelé aussi multiplication) .
